First of all, i'm a bit of a hl2-fanboy ;P

In Doom3 there is a map with alot of bricks in it, piled very high...
...tried to do the same with hl2 (and i made my first skybox \o/ )
But Hl2's physics can't handle that :(

The Bricks float in the air :(

The pics are taken from CSS. So you built it in CSS I presume. CSS uses much simpler version of HL2 physics, right? Or is this something different? But the way the bricks handle, it sounds like a bug...

I was under the impression it used a much simpler version as well, things (I know its not really linked to the physics engine but...) like IK Placement isn't in CS:S yet so I guess its a good bet to assume the physics engine isn't as complex as HL2's

When u make the map u can choose: Multi Physics or regular... :frog:

It looks like the bricks stop falling at about your POV, or at least the height of the player model. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Yes, the physics in CS:S are simpler than that of HL2. Try it out though to see if this is a bug for HL2 as well.

Even if they don't work, I fail to see how the way an engine handles an unrealistic and completely gameplay-irrelevant setup determines it's physics system poor...

I think anyone can agree that, in the context of games that have gone before it, the Havok system is a nice little piece of work...

CSS uses the same physics engine as HL2, but it has limits inplace to make the game more bandwith friendly. Try to make the same map for HL2.

i stacked cinderblocks and it worked. cs:s physics are kind of odd though, when you walk on physics stuff its kind of rough for some reason.

see http://myweb.dal.ca/djarsena/map2.zip to see what i mean (not cinderblocks but walking over physics stuff)
