i just have a simple question

will hl;s have the physics/interactivity like hl2 or is it just physics of the character models

i am thinking that it is only on the character models....wat do u think?

It would be everything Ie I imagine if theres a stationary barrel in HL1 it will respond to physics in HL:S rather than just being a func_pushable.

I'm pretty sure there will indeed be physics, though they may be limited in some way to ensure the game plays properly. For example I'm sure they wouldn't want you to knock some crates around and build a "ladder" which would allow you to reach the skybox. But if they didn't include them I'm not sure what the point of porting it would be.

ya i think it will all be included in the physics engine cause that is what source is... it makes everything a moveable object and everything will have its own weight and stuff

Considering HL:S should be free for all HL2 owners, that shoots that one down in flames :p

Source is not that... Source is the game engine, imbeded inside the engine resides the Valve modified version of the Havok phyics engine.
The physics engine also does not do what you implied. Rather the programers, write code and assign physics properties to what ever they're told to by the game designers. Nothing automatically happens (assumed thats what you were getting at).

Anyways, my opinion...
I think they added physics to most things, just not everything... Probably just the character models, props in the levels like boxes, barrels, tables, radios etc...

Havok was given to valve as several key parts. These parts could not work together as a whole. Valve had to combine and modify Havok to suit their personal needs.

Just like if you bought the rights to build a game with Source, you'd get the key tools and some heavy support books and thats it.

First off, what the heck kind of answer is this??

My guess is, you'll be able to push around objects to block a door, unblock, push something over. So, no, there won't be as much interactivity as HL2..Maybe just a "USE" for barney...

Dont be ridiculous, of course its going to generate money... such a library of mods that valve is releasing will just reinforce peoples awareness of the developers effort to put out a good game. Making more people atrract to it. Everything they do has to do with selling more copies.

No, a lot of things, but not everything in Half-Life: Source won't be interactive like Half-Life.

A lot of things like boxes that are actually part of the map obveously won't react because they're not props.
