Here Is One of the Pictures of My House that i man makeing for HL2.
I will port it to HL2 When It Comes Out.
This Picture shows the Kitchen Area.

Feel Free to post your pictures of your own Homes that u are making for HL2. I want to see them.

it loooks well well made, but i think once the HL2 engine is out, ur gonna want to make a tottaly new and better looking version.
 
check out Stone's project in Models and Skins. Its probably going to end up as a hl2 map.

Hehe, no seriously, the proportions are all wrong. It doesnt look really good... Its not a flame, just my opinion.
 
Its looks like a tottaly different game to me...you sure its HL1 :p
 
yeh , your def gonna wanna chuck out A LOT of those objects you made in brushes for models, (wich i think you can do in the current Hammer) once HL2 is out,

no offense, but some criticsim , it looks good for a HL map, but not HL2, and the chairs seem larger than they should be, but good effort!

But Thats the Way My kitchen is. This is an Exact replica (Exept for the textures). And I am Going to add a lot more when I port it to the HL2 Engine. SO it will look very pretty. High Res Textures and Verything else.
Belive me. Its going to be Bad ass. I will Put it up for Download.
I Still dont know if i should inlcude Monsters and stuff. I will include like Peds out in the street and stuff.. But not anything that will attack you.

Just for the Record: I wasent standing on the ground, i used the NOCLIP Cheat. And Went up high for that shot.

Oh Yes these chairs by the table are just place holders.

Come I want to see some pics of your homes. the once you guys are working on. I know some of u have then. I heard some ppl were making the same thing im doing( Unless i was the only one being serius).
 
Its prolly gonna look like poo when you port it to HL2. Maybe you should start fresh..
 
Hehe, I love house maps. That's always the first thing I do whenever I learn any new modelling or mapping program, build a model of my house or bedroom to mess around in. That's the first thing I'll be doing with HL2 as well :p
 
Looks good. I've always thought about doing something like that, but never got around to it. With HL2, im going to force myself to do it. But, I got so many other ideas to work on, so who knows. :)

Ah that big fat light_entity makes it look a bit messy. Looks cool tho :)

Will have to make a much more detailed map for Source, starting from scratch of course.
 
theres an idea, thanks to the nice map sizes for source - a full house can be done in ratz style. Would take a while to find the enemy though?

If those pictures are from what i tihnk they are from, then you are in trouble.

You must not post anything related to the leak.
 
man with all those brush made objects i bet your rspeeds are through the roof.
 
hehehehe well i know AgentXen's secret. Why did u use brushes for the chairs? you can use models for nearly all the stuff in that map.

null texture on the sides of objects that the player will not see, thus
reducing the amount of brushes the engine has to draw.

Moving small brushes a few spaces off of the floor/wall/ceiling preventing it from cutting into the world creating more for the engine to draw and increasing r_speeds.

Surrounding complex brushes with the clip/hint texture.
 
Your scaling is wrong on the kitchen table, cooker and kitchen sink area.

Overall it looks very much like what it is: A brush based kitchen. I would like you to obtain a lot of the detailing through better use of (better) textures - and, no, the 'future port to HL2' is not an excuse ;)

If I were you I'd move on to learning how to create world models and how to make appropriate textures.
 
I didn't post any pics on here other than those of my Half-Life 1 house map. If people choose to explore my web server and find other things on there then that is up to them.

I can assure you that items on my webserver are there for private use, and never get links posted in forums (other than the half-life 1 folder for obvious reasons).
 
yes they are right your scale is teh screwy. My guess you made the cabinets area outside of the room before you placed them in the room right?

Offer of advice use scale methods based on model size when mappign so everythign is relatively easy to keep on scale.

What they mean by scale being wronmg is look at your chairs than look at your countertop/cabinet/stove area. In scale, the countertop hieght below your cabinets would be a few inches above the back of your chair. Unless you have some massive chairs hehe. Oh and the cabinet bottom usually aligns with the eye line of a character or the chin.

Otherwise its actually a good layout on scale with good materials it would be sweet
 
why are the chairs bigger than the stove?
