pink maps

a few maps i have downloaded are pink and black, whats this all about? also everytime i,m loading barney gulch it crashes the game back to the desktop. i got the map pack vol 1.

I would assume those areas are not properly textured.

No sir. I have not ventured into the custom maps scene yet. I figure DM has been out less than a week and I will enjoy the 2 maps provided for now.

I play in the new custom maps a lot just because I get bored with just two maps pretty quickly.

To fix the textures, you need to go download and install the individual map manually. The auto-download only seems to include the .bsp and the .ain files, and from what you're telling me, the map-pack probably does, too. I assume Valve will fix this problem for auto-download eventually.

It shouldn't be hard to find the maps. I don't suggest doing a Google search for individual maps yet, but try "half-life 2 maps."

i haven't downloaded any custom maps in hl2dm, but i know what you're talking about. I downloaded assualt lith for cs source and installed it properly but it is pink and black checkered. Usually it happens when you don't put the texture in the right folder. Just check and see.
