Yarr! Yarr! Yarr![br]So just got those wonderful Pirate references out of the way on with the news![br]The Pirate Vikings and Knights 2 team are already working on a patch which will include the following:
  • Performance Optimization.
  • Disabled picking up chest in your own teams zone.
  • Team Name added to "X has grabbed the booty."
  • Keg Damage/AoE reduced.
  • Team Colors added to chat.
  • Keg "Pushable".
  • Team Balance.
  • Mani Support
  • and more.
[br]The PVKII mod has also made a TV appearance on the German program Giga Games MAXX. The team will have a link of the video soon.[br]If you have ever fancied making a map for Pirates Vikings and Knights 2 but just haven?t been bothered to do it? Now you have the chance to get the PVKII guys make it for you!
Now you have the chance to come with a great idea and actually see it come to life! You will design the level and the PVKII team will see it happen if you win! You will not only have your map made, but you will get a beta tester spot (internal testing) so you can see the progress on the map! How cool is that?![br] Rules
  • No Remake of an old map
  • There will only be one winner (but who knows, maybe someone will pick up your idea even if you dont win).
  • There can be as many people working on the same layout as possible but only two of them will recieve the beta tester award.
  • We will need at least one sketch of the overview of the map plus detailed information about key areas. The more detail you put in, the better!
  • The one who sells his idea best, wins!
  • You must use one of the game modes currently implemented.
  • You must reply to this thread once, then edit that post with your ideas and images as you go.
  • The competition ends on March 15th. 2007.

Performance optimisation? Woah, it runs good enough!

The Keg needed to be weaker though, thank-god and Team balance - great update.
 
Only real fps dropps i get is when kegs are spammed, but it seems more of a source problem than PVK problem. (just got some "new" hardware from my brothers old computer so haven't really tested with any other source based games that has lots of explosions yet)

But team balance and such sounds great, however i sure hope they dont nerf the keg into uselessness. I mean as long as friendly fire is on they are not really a problem at all as the pirates will just slaughter their own team. The only thing that makes them overpowerd is lack of friendly fire, otherwhise they are pretty much needed to clear out big groups of enemies camping a chest or similar.

Other additions i'd like to see is either some form of spawn timer or some redesigning of spawnpoints on some maps. Such as Island where the pirate island is basically impossible to rob, and the Knights spawn abit too close to the chest room, should spawn in the basement or similar. Saints face similar problem where some spawns are easy to defend with the chest while others are not, like the pirate spawn unless you use a bug to get past the spawn camp protection thing it has. And the tower on the desert map, its just poor design choice imho, just not fun to fight for it because its so small, give us a larger room or similar to defend so we can have some proper fighting instead of booring ladder camping...

Otherwhise the mod already kicks a fair ammount of ass.
 
Wow I already have a map concept/sketches for a PVKII map that I havnt got around to starting, guess today is my lucky day!
