Boasting smoother play (no stuttering) and shorter loading times. This is due the way they have modified the release to reflect the way the game would have been designed if it wasn't for Steam, everything streams perfectly without having to be decompressed on the fly (apparently). So i wonder what Valve has to say on this matter. If the next patch doesn't work (fully) then true gamers will be forced to turn to piracy to get their fully working HL2.

P.S. i have it from a good source that the previous group releases of HL2 (not fully working) did not have the infamous audio stutter so the likely hood of this release following suit is very likely and combined with full functionality is a little worrying for valve to say the least.

We won't be forced to turn anywhere.

If someone chooses to pirate a piece of software then it is their choice.

So if Valve never solve the sound stutter (which is a possibility) you will be content?

I don't agree with it either

but I do however worry that a pirated version is better than the official doesn't look good on valves part.....

Heres a moral question for you lot, if you buy the retail version and then download a pirate copy of the game you just bought is that viewed as illegal?

Yes.

The stutter bug will be fixed.

already been one patch......if the piraters can fix it it must be pretty easy then......it's going to take valve at least 2 tries..... :(

so, you're not allowed to download a backup copy of a game which you already own? i was pretty sure that that's legal... correct me if i'm wrong...

that's a little confusing? i mean.. if i purchased a copy of HL2, and then downloaded the more optimized cracked version, how could i steal a game if i already own it?

That is pretty sad that pirates can optimize the game before Valve can. Very sad actually. I bought the game.. if I have to get the pirated version so I can play the damn thing.. I wouldnt feel bad about it.

Still waiting for Valve to do right though. Support the games you play.

It's only "boasting" better load times etc.

On what PC, my freind had the warez'd version and it had AI bugs and it still had the stuttering that worse then I did(which has been solved by the patch)

I would think it is something along the lines of supporting illegal activity.

Say you buy a watch. Then go trade it to a guy who stole the same watch. You are still in possession of stolen property no matter if you payed money for the exact same thing or not.

Great minds think alike :)

I have played the first level of HL2 on an Nvidia 6800GT with an AMD64 3500+ (my own) and a highend Pentium 4 combined with an ATI X800XT and both stuttered. If you honestly think your game is fixed then your are going crazy or you are playing apart of the game that is uneffected. Level 2-6 plays perfectly fine on mine but try playing the first level and its stutter city. Only thing valve fixed with that first patch was the autosave (reduced to minor stutter rather than a mega one)

Actualy I just started replaying the game for the second time (first time since they released the patch) and I haven't noticed any stuttering yet. I experienced pretty moderate stuttering at some points last time around.

With pirated version and with original, you can play on 2 PCs at the same time, which you can not do with the original copy only.

Pirating is a crime, and don't try to find excuses for it. If you steal, dont blame other people who steal your car or rob your friend.

Yeah, because Valve have such a bad history of supporting their games, don't they?
