yeah...you can use your mouse. When you start the game it actually says "We reccomend you use the number pad unless youre on a laptop."

Anyway, yeah this game is great. It's a little overwhelming at first just getting started, but it's great fun. Runs well on this POS pc too (xp 1600+, 256 pc133, ti4200).

I'm liked by the dutch and HATEd by the spanish.

I see it this way. If you like pirates, you'll love this game. If you hate pirates, you'll hate this game. It's a fair enough train of thought.

I, for one, think pirates are the coolest. And they have to be pretty f*cking optimistic, too. I mean, they're usually missing limbs and eyes, they live in a shitty boat filled with filthy men, they have to work hard all the time, but you always see them singing and shit. I respect that!

The best thing, though, is you get to do ANYTHING you could imagine a pirate doing (in good taste, at least. No raping.) Like, you get to raid settlements, attack cargo ships, find buried treasure, battle competing pirates, and court the governers daughter. Like any good Sid Meier game, there's a bazillion different things you can do.

I haven't even played it, either. I really want it now.

I think this is the sleep hit of the year.

With the likes of Rome: Total War, Sims 2, WoW, Doom 3, and of course Half-Life 2, I think Pirates snuck up on all of us.

Reviews are good, and I'm definitely trying a demo if they have one soon.

They have escape from monkey island for ps2 and pc, it came out a while back.

If you like Monkey Island, try to find Grim Fandango, it is my fav. game of all time.

i've lloved games before, such as halo2, hl2 and others and i've bought them all.

but this game .. it's perfect. i love it, it's just so awesome.

i've played a little over an hour [ i have work in 30 mins ] and i've done so much, and there is soo much more you can do.

this is my #1 favourite game, i'm completely sold on it.

Pirates! won't be the GOTY, but its a very enjoyable game. It has the same feel to it as the original. Very addictive. Its the kind of game you can play for hours on end.

I have the game and i'd have to say its one of the best games in its genre. You have total freedom and Its great fun to have ship battles and Find lost treasure. I recommend trying it out.

your kidding about the variety of what to do right ? but you played for an hour .. so you probably didn't even try anything.

you played for an hour ? i'm assuming you didn't 'divide your plunder' once, therefore you didn't have the chance to raise the difficulty.

this game is probably the game with the most variety in what you can do, it beats fable.

If its like Fable i dont think its my kind of thing. I enjoyed getting different armor and tattoo's, even wives, but it really was kinda boring after about 20 minutes of doing all that stuff.

it's not really like fable, only in the sense that it's a very open game. the first 3 hours i played i didn't even touch the storyline and i was having fun etc.
