After doing a sound-to-video project on a claymation film (some of Bruce Bickford's material off Frank Zappa's Baby Snakes film), I decided to have a play myself at making some plasticine artwork for my band. I've never been a painter or drawer, but I had a play with a little kid's pack yesterday and now I feel like I could get hooked on the stuff! I didn't do that band artwork as I didn't have enough of a single colour to do what I wanted...today I went and got 20 quids worth of stuff and have been messing with it all day.

I was listening to Pink Floyds song Bike t'other day and I remember hearing about a mouse called Gerald and something about a house, thus...

Incidentally, I just looked up the lyrics for the song, and the inspiring verse is:
I know a mouse
And he hasn't got a house
I don't know why
I call him Gerald
He's getting rather old
But he's a good mouse

Also, here's the other thing I did. It's called 'semi-literate'.
[Disclaimer: Greater evidence of above bracketed statement]

So... I've never felt this thrilled about trying something new like this since... learning about computers when I was 5 or whatever :D

I think I might live in plasticine from now on - it's much easier to do what you want haha.

Anyone else into plasticine? Are there any of your particular favourite artists which use plasticine a lot?

Looks just like regular clay or Sculpty, no?

Heh cool stuff :D

We use plasticine to make crappy stop motion animations for college. Here's me and my friend's latest:

My models are the blue poop and the purple monster :p

I think I remember seeing an earlier version of that on YouTube randomly once, nice :D

Yeah, I think Plasticine is just a sort of non-drying clay brand. Do you have something like it in the States?

I love that one

Reminds me of this one. Harvey Krumpet:

That was pretty good! Interesting how the concept of waiting for a bus that wouldn't come popped up.

I've been having a good play with this stuff over the past few days, here's a couple more I did:
I'm doing a degree in Electronic Engineering, and I'm supposed to know how these things work. I'm afraid this is the closest I'll get :D...

There's a bit of a story to this one, albeit a bit silly - hopefully it comes across despite the dodgy presentation:

To OP, yes, if it's bakable, then yes, ours is called Sculpty.

Right now I am making a small sculpture out of sculpty and apoxie sculpt, it's a giant walking tumor. :p

I have a lot of sculptures made from the material.
