Play Half Life 2 together with friends?

I was thinking about this last night, but I wanted to see if it can happen.
If I got my friend to get Garry's Mod and Half Life 2, and I start a server with a Half Life 2 map, lock the server, surely we can go through the game together?

Can this be done?

idk, ive tried on 9, but yo have to move at the same speed or you will fall behind and a scripted scene, such as when you first meet blackmesa east the doors shut quickly, so you have to jump in abou the same time

Well if things do go wrong, we shall noclip. There are of course somethings which two players cant have. Like the vechiles, but you would just duplicate them.
I'd love to try it with someone.
