hi, I have skimmed through the forums and cant seem to find any questions on this, but sorry if there has been

I bought halflife2, activated it, play it in offline mode, but i want to play it on my brothers computer (which is way better) to see what its like. I figure it would let me use my steam account and play it on the "online mode" so long as it is not currently activated or whatever on my computer. but it gives an error message saying "this copy of the game is already activated" or something like that when i enter the cd key. am I able to disable mine, enable it on his, play it for a bit then disable it on his again?

thanks for the advice....

As I understand it once your CDKEY is entered it is tied to your Steam account so in theory you should be able to load Steam on your Bro's PC. Copy over the .GCF files and launch Steam. Login with your Steam account and enjoy. I do this with my laptop.

Clam it is possible... all you need to do is

1.) Download Steam on your bro's computer
2.) Login to your account
3.) Download HL2

don't enter any new CDKey's or anything. Also both of your Steam's (if he wanted to play or something) can be on online mode at the SAME TIME. And also you can both play online if you wanted to, but just not on the same server. Hope that helps!

So, If I take my DVD copy to try on my mates PC will I be able to install & log onto my Steam account? I'm curious to see if he gets the same stutter/crash problem as me.
