As there has been so much stuff happening in TGS now I thought about making this thread containing movies on PS3 games, I'll update when new things come out.

--- Trailers ---

PS. Right click on these trailers and save target as, if you don't want to stream the video. Most videos are in HD.

If you're wondering why the game is so slow compared to the trailer, well it seems they had a broken build at TGS, it will be fixed at tomorrows show.
From Playsyde
I've just received some very interesting informations. The build used today at the TGS is indeed faulty and too slow. A new fixed build should be available tomorrow and we will of course do our best to do some new videos!

Great job! This is just what the doctor ordered.

These looks much better than anything we've seen so far. Lair looks like it is shaping up really well and will hopefully just get better. Motorstorm (despite the slowness) looks extremely good and it certainly seems to be approaching the target footage we've all seen before. Afrika looks like a really interesting game--I just love the environments! I am a little nervous about the kid at the end of the vid though...

And White Knight? What can I say...? Level 5 is probably my favorite house right now and they can absolutely do no wrong and this looks to be a great game...though I am dying to see some more of it!!! Reminds me dear old Final Fantasy Tactics...*sniff*

All in all, a great first day!

Im dissapointed at motorstorm, simply because my expectations where much higher when i saw the prerendered one from the first PS3 conference. However, if i hadnt seen that then i would have a total different view at the game because it seems to take the racing to a new level.

i've watched alot of vids at ign so i presume the vids are the same. Lair looks fantastic

Why are the Metal Gear solid 4 videos always scripted sequences? I want to see some gameplay stuff, where you actually can see the hud and walk around and play....enough with the scripted sequences!

You mean the guy in the Jeep? Apparently that's the player, or as Phil Harrison said "...that's one of the people you'll control.".

You're the head of Sony's worldwide development studios. What the hell is up with that Africa game?

Video games have a function in life, and that is: wish fulfillment. You can become a mercenary, a fighter pilot. On PS3, we can expand the realm of that experience. Africa allows you to experience a very interesting part of the world, a safari in the plains of Africa. The gameplay is entirely non-violent. You don't kill the animals. It emphasizes the positives rather than the negatives.

It's about collecting experiences and keeping them for posterity.

What's up with the guy riding in the Jeep, shown at the end of the trailer?

That's you. Or rather, that's one of the people you'll control. (He stops himself from saying anything else.)

That makes sense. I do love that there are people out there who are interested in making a videogame that's more about experiences than killing. That is actually what I was hoping for when I first saw this game.

Afrika just went to the top of my most anticipated list... (well behind episode 2 of course).

so in africa, ur a hunter?
Nope, its completely non-violent. See the following from 1up.com or Loke's quote from post #7:
Harrison actually addressed the question, though still leaving many scratching their heads. He explained videogames are meant to help individuals seek wish fulfillmentm, how we can't achieve everything we want in life on our own, and videogames provide a short cut. Afrika is apparently meant to realistically simulate the plains of Africa, giving players a chance to explore a landscape they might not otherwise see, outside of pictures in National Geographic.

Afrika will have gameplay -- exactly what is still unknown -- but Harrison confirmed it will be entirely non-violent, as the game's about the experience. You'll also be able to control several different individuals. Perhaps each character has a different skill set, and by switching between them, you can participate in different activities, such as photography? Your guess is as good as ours.

Wow ... MGS4, Afrika, Resistance, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Lair, and Motorstorm all look great. I would say that all of those will probably be great buys or at least great rentals. The PS3 has a better lineup than I thought it did.

White Knight is worth mentioning for what looks to be the best animation I've ever seen in-game and a really cool sword/shield combat system. I'm just not a fan of the whole anime style, but if the game turns out to be good enough I'll give it a rent anyway.

I find Afrika very interesting. It's probably the most original game announced for any of the next-gen systems. Looking forward to learning more about it.

If I can't chase that whole herd of those water buffalo across a river infested with crocodiles, there is no way I am buying that game

Oh and White Knight looks hawt.

Anyone hear anything about the FF 7 remake? That will sell the PS3 for me :)

wheres silent hill 5?

Nothing yet, and I doubt we'll see anything at TGS.

Level 5 are God's so I have no doubt in White Knight, from the video it looks fantastic especially the flora. Dark Cloud 2 is my favourite RPG yet.

I heard nothing, but hopefully they're working on it.

By the way, one new video of the storyline of Assassins Creed has been released, I have yet to see it but you can grab it from IGN here.

Agreed. Well, except I really like DQ8 too, so they are a tie for the best for me. :E

Jade narrates...'nuff said. ;)

DQ8 is only ~$20 USD now (hopefully the same for you over there), so its a great time to pick up a great game!

And I also just read that White Knight is only 10% complete...and it looks that good already!!! Man, those Level 5 guys are wizards!

Will do. :E

Holy shit! Where did you read that?

Right here. (Last paragraph).

Ugh...waiting for Rogue Galaxy in the US has been hard enough! Now knowing that this is in development, the waiting is going to be even longer and harder! :naughty:

damn white knight looks gorgeous!

I'll second that. That's the first and only thing i've seen on the PS3 that makes me want one - it looks lovely. Any idea if it'll be a launch title?

The real reason why I want to Buy a PS3 is because I want to see my PS2 and PS1 games converted to HD or 1080i. I believe sony stated that the PS3 could do this. If anyone had a Dreamcast, remember Bleem! for Gran Turismo 2? You could play GT2 on your dreamcast and it looked fantastic. I hope it looks the same on the PS3..if not a little better.

PS1 games would look absolutely crap at HD resolutions considering how low res the textures are.

The PS2 games should look better but not by an awful lot I would say.

Actually, PS1 games look a lot better when played through emulators at high resolution. It really cleans it up a lot and removes all those jaggies, and in PS1 games jaggies make up like 80% of the screen so it's a big improvement. With PS2 it's not quite as big of a jump but it's still impressive, just look at the difference between the GTA games on PS2 and PC.

However, I haven't heard anything about the PS3 upscaling the old games, so I'm not sure if that's the case. It would be great news, but I kinda doubt it as I'm sure thats bound to cause compatability errors with a lot of them.

Footage of the new Motorstorm build which arrived yesterday.

Link.

Or Killzone?

Oops.

Either their working on it without revealing anything before they got something to show or they're waiting until they've released Killzone: Liberation.

Either way I'm eager to see what they've managed to do with it but I'm keeping my expectations low.

Mine too, but if you look at what devs are doing with games like Gears of War and Resistance, the target footage doesn't seem so far-fetched as it once may have, especially given its release date of who-knows-when. We won't see anything until its looking damn good.

Yeah true.
I can't remember how GoW looked before but games like GRAW, Resistance and Heavenly Sword really exceeded theirs and now with Motorstorm which climbs closer and closer the video shown at Sony's E3 2005 conference.

I'm certain Killzone on PS3 will look good, but Guerrilla certainly has a lot to live up to.
