Just played CoD:UO just to see what fps I would get because I was getting low fps on CS:S. My settings: Max settings on res 1024x768. Was playing the first level and got only 30-60 fps!! I swear to god, I WAS pissed before but now I want to blow up my comp. I'll give you every singe detail of my system and I hope someone could solve the problem(please god say its possible).

Powercolor X800 XT PE
Samsung 1024 Mb rAM pc2700 ddr333
P4 3.06 [email protected]
Abit IC7 MAX3
160 gb
Hiper 525w

Thats the system, as it looks now I'll be able to play hl2 on an avarenge of 40 fps on res 1024x768 woohoo :hmph:

ALL games that I have tested so far gave me low fps. games tested: Doom 3, Far cry, CS:S, CoD, CoD: UO

Anyone has a clue what can cause this?? :(

Do you have AA and AF enabled in the control panel?

What graphics card did you have before this X800XT?

I had a 9700 NP. I had Win XP HE before and now win XP PRO, but I doubd thats the problem.

Allso In control panel, the settings are on medium.

What drivers you using?
Did you clean drivers before replacing your graphics card?
What 3d mark 03/01 score do you get?

pc2700 ddr333

not the best type of ram, might be holding you back?

I didn't clean my drivers when installing x800 xt pe but I have re-installed windows from HE to PRO so i guess they've been cleaned when I did that. My current drivers are Cat 4.9.

I get 11790 on 3dmark03 and 19800 on 3dmark01se

I don't think my ram can be causing this high fps loss or can it? We're talking about upto 50 fps loss.

All I can think of right now is my cpu. Do you guys think its because of it? It has 533 mhz bus while the others has 800 mhz

The ram corresponds to your 533 fsb so that's ok, have you tried declocking your cpu, could be a heat issue.

Its 52 degrees idle on stock speeds but now when overclocked its 58, i think. I'll declock it to 2900 mhz and see how it goes

Did not help, now I'm getting down to 20 fps. Seems like 60 fps is max for CoD:UO but still I should expect it to stay 60 whole the time instead of an avarenge of 35 fps. Any more suggestions?

Btw my cpu's fsb is at 133 at stock and 144 now when its overclocked.

Your 3Dmark2003 score is up there...yet you get low FPS in other games?
That's different. Have you tried different drivers? Uninstall the current ones first. I hope that will clear the issue up.

Your memory is great, don't worry about it. And your FSB is fine too.

Yes, i've tried cat 4.7, 4.8 and 4.9 but nothing helps.

Tested Halo on max settings 1024x768 and got an avarenge of 50 fps. :(

Samsung 1024 Mb rAM pc2700 ddr333, thats exaplains it..........

LOL, what a fuking memory you are using. Sory I didn't to be rude but Look m8, first of all its 2700 and I doubt you are running it in daul Channel...........:p

EDIT: you require to change your RAM, your score is very correct. maybe you can push it a bit further.

Need an answer from Asus for that.

I think many people are still using pc2700

:dozey: Hmm, I get sorry performance from my x800 Pro as well... how hot does your GPU get? Mine gets 70C load, I seriosuly think it's a heat issue with the videocard. I am guessing that's your bottleneck, the CPU and/or the ram.

I get 60 max and 43-45 normal. So its not a heat issue.

Test it with no programs running in the background. Turn Norton and everything else off.

When you used different drivers, did you actually uninstall the one before it? If not then do this first! And restart before installing the new drivers.

Your board should support dual channel memory and if you have 2 sticks of 512MB then you are running in dual channel.
I have PC2700 and I get great performance. :-p
Speed is fine.

There is a different issue here and it isn't heat either. I assume you have your AGP at 4 or 8x.
If you don't get anything above 60 then double check if you have Vsync or temporal AA on in ATI's control panel.
Do you ever get above 60FPS? Like even 64.

Yes, I realized I had V-sync on so I turned it off. Now I get still the same as before but it gets upto 120 just sometimes. But its at 40-50 most of the time. Btw after I installed win xp PRO I had only 1 driver and that is 4.9 so no driver problems.

I have 2 sticks of 512 Mb and have x8 agp on.

Better ram gives you more fps?

And last: about my cpu heat, when I check bios it says 52 degrees on stock speed. Its not normal but do I have a heat problem? What can heat cause me? Less fps?

Boys and girls, no problems here, it's just CoD:UO. If the demo is the first level of UO, then these scores are fine. It's in the woods, snowing, LOTS of AA for the card to push out with the dead tree branches. If it isn't this level, or isn't even like this, this message will self-destruct in 5...4....3....

It's funny how you have no idea what you are talking about :D. CoD runs off of the aging Quake 3 engine, it is not uber-new technology. If he is getting 40FPS, there is obviously something wrong, probably his drivers.
Now, Nex, instead of repeating yourself like you have been doing 'OK, the 4.9s are installed so i am ok!' You need to reinstall them because you probably didn't uninstall your old drivers anyways. Uninstall your video card from the Device Manager in Control Panel>System. Then, install the 4.9s again, (restart inbetween) and come back with results.

I have cleaned my hdd 2 times when I installed win xp pro so every program and every driver I had was gone.
-------------------------------------------

Ok this is what I just did, I OCed my cpu to 3.43 (now its 70+ degrees under load) and uninstalled longhorn, ran 3dMark03 and VST and got these scores:

3dmark03: 11980
VST on max settings on res 1024x768: 110 Fps
VST on max settings on res 1600x1200: 80 Fps

Those scores are pretty good, it shows that nothing is wrong with the drivers.

Now this is what I noticed when I tried CoD: UO again on second level. When there is an open area with exemple soldiers I get max 30 fps by looking at it but normally 25 fps. Now thats pretty same with far Cry when I look at the island on the first level. Could this mean something? I bet it tells what part of my computer is wrong. Could it be ram?

While I was playing I hit windows button to come to deskop and went to the control panel, saw that its 70C. is that normal? I have 45C idle

The x800 is fine up until around 110C and damage is caused at 120c plus

HAVE YOU INSTALLED YOUR MOTHERBOARD DRIVERS?

That's very important, since it enables agp and such

It's the first thing you should do after a clean install (after reformat)

He's gettin good scores in 3d mark and the vst so i tihnk he has installed his smartgart drivers etc.

Mobo drivers are installed. But what can it be that cause me such a fps loss on an open area? Ram? ram? ram? Thats all I can think of, if someone knows please tell me.

Just found out that its most likely my cpu thats causing this so I ordered FX-53 and a new mobo.

Please tell me you are joking??? Just because you are losing 10-20 fps you went and spent £700 on a new cpu and mobo. At least wait till october 11th when the FX55 and 4000+ are released...

I'm joking ofcourse and I'm loosing atleast 30 fps. I'm thinking of 3.2c but first I'm going to do more research

Just because something is on an old engine doesn't mean that it can't get push his system. On my specs, in every game out, I can pretty much play smoothly with everything on the highest settings, but in the UO demo I had to lower one or two things to make it run at 40-60. I'm telling you, that demo was quite the AA-pusher. The whole level was pretty much a big open area with a bunch of dead trees, explosions, a lot of soldiers, tanks, etc. It was quite a lot....but still, if he can play decently, no worries.

I still don't think there's anything wrong. Maybe their is, but that's just my opinion.

I'm playing the full version of CoD:UO. I found someone that has same spec. as me but 512 mb ram and he gets about the same fps as me. So now I know for sure its my cpu (and 3dMark03 score is about the same as mine)

Does this happen with every game or just COD? You can't use one game to determine your performance and then blame it on your CPU. Especially if a synthetic benchmark like 3DMark 03 is showing a proper score.

Your CPU is really fast, I highly doubt that is the problem.

Read the first post, as I said all games that I have played so far gives me some bad fps.

2.4c OCed to 3.3 ghz has 270 fsb and about 1081 bus, with the same graphic card as mine it gets almost 13000 in 3dmark03 and 3dMark03 is all about graphic card. It just shows that fsb and bus is important.

"At least wait till october 11th when the FX55 and 4000+ are released..."

will it be released worldwide on that date?

Ahhh My freind had the same problem lol ...so sad well anyway before i tell u what to do did u run any Ad-Adware Programs ? to check alos run a utility Called TuneUp Utilities 2004 (google it) and run those to find erors and get back to me

As far as October 11th its 'supposed' to be but i reckon in very limited stock, so don't expect to get hands on one until november/december.

downloaded tuneup program but what am I supposed to click in it?

on tuneup I have "cleared" my memory to 921 Mb, I don't know if this is because of that but in The sims 2, when I'm playing I'm getting 50-75 fps on max settings on res 1024x768 but every minute or so it goes down to 1-10 fps and back up to normal, like the computer is working if you know what I mean. What shall I do to fix this? Its quite annoying
