Please help half life 2 won`t start becoming suicidal

I`m at my wits end with this game i`ve tried everything i can think of except throwing my pc out the window, I start HL2 and I get the valve logo then the screen mentioning the havok physics engine then i get a loading screen with my mouse pointer as a hourglass then it changes to my normal pointer and then my desktop appears it says that I`m 100% ready and I desperately need some help with this

Any Help would be appreciated in words I cannot express
