Please Help : How do i open this gate (at route kanal end) ?

if I remember right, there is a "handle", to the right, next to the boxes. "use" it.
you have to get off the boat.

i think it opened when i did that

Right in the second screenshot, ur basically next to it. It's a circular valve, which you need to 'use' so that the gate goes to the maximum height, otherwise, the gate falls back down.

There should be a small wheel on that grey box which you turn to open the gate. If it isn't showing up, just reload from an earlier bit.

The one with the manhacks? If so climb the lader and jump to a pipe. From the pipe you can jump to the ledge. Once there go into the next room and jump down from pipe to pipe and turn the valve.

Whoa, wtf man. In that second pic there should be a wheel that you turn to open the gate on that grey box. But it's not there. Try going back one load zone then replaying. Other than that i have no idea what's going on.

Yup, you're missing the Wheel to open the gate. You need to hold down the use key to make it work. There's also some health behind you in those boxes.

Graphics look fine to me.
so long as it ain't choppy.

cards are way in front of games that can use them, anyway.
I installed and played HL2 on my embedded video driver, just to see, and it played OK at 480x640. Flashlight was only 1 pixel, though. Kind of funny.
THAT looked like ass, though. I think Source runs great on older machines, much to their credit.

I agree that you should probably reload from an earlier save point.

yea.. I think you have a point there.. because i mean it's just a gate right..
and there is no where else to go.. so you have to expect it must be something to open that gate around there..

Now if there isn't a valve there it's a different problem..
Try load from the last save and check it out again..
I have heard many people have this problem, it must depend on the hard drive in your computer or clear out.. perhaps your steamapps system hasn't completed your downlaod yet.. I don't know

if you're not messing around with us that might help, because i see your G-card is kinda like mine: a bit old so some things might not appear from far or in some cases close distance, if that don't help then try out what the other guys told you
