Don't get your hopes up just yet - this could be anything.

Although I must admit, it's rather exciting. Would be typical for it to unlock on the Sunday night before I start my new job :hmph:

Also... the entire forum of www.halflife2.net is probably quiting and restarting their steam accounts every minute.... I doubt thats helping!!! :p

it is wierd tho, becuase if you think about it, best buy for instance, usually has alot of stock right? and there are alot of stores, also there are reports of target, and i even saw some *unconfirmed* reports of super wallmarts having it in stock and selling it... they really should release.. :D

It would be sweet if I could play it before i start my new job on Tuesday, either that or i'll get home from work then to find HL2 ready to play (i'm in Australia so if its unlocked at 12am on Tuesday that will be 5:30 pm here.

this steam bandwidth chart prophesying stuff always reminds me of the ancient romans doing augury by inspecting chicken entrails.
 
it would be logic that Valve unlocks the game today. They probably have seen in Steam all those thousands of retail copies being activated during these last 3-4 hours...it would be dumb just to keep the game as it is and piss off customers.

It's not valve's fault that a bunch of stores broke the street date. The customers should be pissed off at the stores for selling them a game that's not been released yet.

And the stores should be pissed off at Vivendi, and Vivendi at Valve. That´s the whole point of the "unlocking early" thing, IMHO.
 
Just to remind everyone, us retail preorder people haven't got the game yet. Valve is not going to unlock it (I hope) until everyone has it.

Since I'm highly doubting any street date breakage, I'm hoping it might be like a huge CS:S update ...or at worst another preload phase.
 
What is the exact activation time for New Yorkers (US Eastern Time). Is it 12:00 am the 16th or some other time during the night?
I want to seat the night and play it ... hope wife will not beat me for that :cheers: .
