well the only reason to upgrade the video card is for games, and the update without the video card is pretty pointless.

i'm not just getting a new video card. I'm building an entirely new systeam. from a P3 1 ghz 128 MB RAM and a GeForce4 MX440-SE, to a AMD ATHLON XP 2400+, 256 MB RAM, and RADEON 9600 Pro. But if i'm upgrading it just for games (even though i am) he won't let me get it. i need sum fake (yet logical and practical) reasons to do this. PLZ HELP!

set up your computer so it breaks. and make it be the processor, or all the components, so then he knows he has to get a new one.

Or install a ton of ad-ware and porn-bots so it runs notepad slow

Ditch 9600 Pro and get an AIW 9700 Pro, it costs a bit more than the 9600 Pro, but atleast you can tell your dad that you can use it for Video (editing, encoding, TV recording and what not). Plus, you get the gaming performance of a 9700 Pro.

Anyway... good luck. Hope you get what you want

for 6 bucks more you could get a much faster Barton 2500+

take an old 266fsb chip over the newly designed, lower clocked, doubled cached, easier cooled chip

Well some parents have weird opinions on certain things.. like my dad won't allow me to remove my left-mirror from my scooter ...but he does allow me to spend my money on whatever i want tough..( well everything, i don't know)

But i think you should just talk with your dad about it, because it's YOUR money, so you have every right to do with it what you wish.

What the hell is wrong with you? If you can get a 2500+ for only $6 more--why not do it!? The 2500+ will perform better out of the box, and you'll be able to do some nice overclocking. What is so great about the 2400+ anyway?
