Okaaaaaay... I've got the G-Man avi, but apparently I don't have the right codec. Wmp looks for one when I try to play the file, and then it apparently doesn't find one, and proceeds to play it as a sound file.

Googling on the problem, but I wouldn't mind help.

heh I have the same problems with lots of different files like that. I used to think it was simply trying to run them on media player 6.4 but it would still do it on wmp9.. Have you tried DLing the codecs from MS' site? That helped me a bit, but since then I've gone back and forth from 6.4 to 9 so many times I haven't a clue whats what anymore.. other than DivX will balk almost all the time now no matter what gets changed, installed, uninstalled, swaped about, MS have done something to make DivX even less reliable than it used to be. Oh well, so long as the standard mpeg1 and mpeg2 formats work thats all I care aboot for work.

Bah, bloody DivX player gave me a screenful of pink and green lines. Only got the audio. Crap. Checking how to update wmp.

EDIT: Oh, wait, now wmp works. Except that now the audio's lagging. Maybe I need to update my sound drivers...

Damn, the G-man looks real, doesn't he? Holy shit. And there are people out there who think Doom 3 looks better?

i use both of those codec packs and i can view just about anything. they're for windows media player v9 only.

Downloaded the Docks demo. Hot damn, that's cool.

Shiny water = awesome. Those Zombies are stronger this time around.

But the sound is still LAGGING!
