Click that link dammit!

The webpage is counting unique IP clicks on the image apparently to fill that little bar until something is released. I assume a big trailer (no way we could possibly hope for a demo :p) or something.

So click it and pass it on :D

Oh shit, haven't heard anything about this in a while!

CLICK GORRAMMIT. CLICK LIKE THE WHORE YOU ARE.

Clicked. Project Offset's been quiet for a while now, but their fantasy FPS idea makes my trousers boil. More info dangnammit!

Clurked.

*F5* *F5* *F5* *F5* *F5* *F5* *F5* *F5* It's not moving fast enough!!!1

Clicked.

Been nearly a year since their last update, about time they released something! :p Still check the site daily usually for updates.

I gave it a serious click just seconds ago. I will have to do so from work on Monday too! ;)

That is a nice screenie. Must see more of that town/village/whatever!!!

I wish I could too, but

IMPORTANT NOTICE
We're having issues with two of our servers right now, so things might be finicky and broken until it gets fixed. /b/ is down for the time being.

This is at the bottom of the page
01101011 01100101 01100101 01110000 00100000 01100111 01101111 01101001 01101110 01100111
Obviously, each segment is a byte. When you turn those bytes into numbers and then into there ASCII equvilants, you get:
keep going

Oh ****ing hell, Sinkoman sent me this link in AIM and I clicked.

And I didn't even know about this thread :(

/me is beaten :(

Clicked out of curiosity, I have no idea what this is.

If you go to view>source you see the code for the bar. It's defined as 68 percent filled right in the code, with no indication of any variables to generate who full the bar is. I say this is BS. There is no special code on this page at all that would take unique hits or anything, this is just a bogus publicity stunt. I'm sure they'll release whatever it is they're holding eventually but they're just waiting until people spread it to as many people as they can. And in actuality nothing is happening.

Whenever the bar fills we get something new. It has already filled twice I believe, and we got these screenshots:

Yes I understand the rules. I'm saying there wasn't any code on that page that could count unique hits or any hits for that matter, and I figured the code for how filled the bar was would be a variable, but instead it's a number typed right in.

But I'll be damned, it's now at 70%. I guess they have some kind of program or code outside of the page that is updating it.

Sorreh!

Never heard of that either.

It was a cool RTS/FPS fusion, but it failed pretty horribly and the company went under, if I remember correctly, despite that it was a pretty good game.

I remember reading about Offset a year or two ago when it was first announced... is it still just the three people working on it, or have they expanded?

lol, that's because you're only seeing the output of the hit counter... not the actual code behind it. "View Source" doesn't show any dynamic code that's not represented on the page, it just shows the output, or something to that effect. That's why if you look at the code behind this forum page, it doesn't show all the database calls and stuff, just the posts.

Havn't you ever heard of PHP or ASP... or even understand how they work? You wouldn't be able to see the code unless they used javascript(and that would be a bitch to do this in, and much insecure). What happens is simple:

-You ask for a page by sending your IP Address and various header information.
-They have a script that logs your IP address in a database and checks if it has ever been to the site before by checking all the addresses in the database. If it hasn't been to the site before it will add to X variable in the database.
-The server will now dynamically generate a page and set that number that fills up the bar to the proper percentage of Variable X compared to there goal#.
-The server will send you this dynamically generated page.

What you see is only what the server sends you.

No, no... the company didn't go under at all...
And the game wasn't horrible at all, it just had a couple of game-breaking bugs that got fixed in the later versions.

They're working on Savage 2 : Tortured Soul right now due to their connection to the fanbase and the high demands. :D

I know all the code isn't right in the source, but I expected there to be something to call the code up. That's how the counter works on my site. There are seperate files to do the actual process but I need to put a thing on the page I'm counting that calls the function.

Oh man we havnt got any info on this for a while! Cant wait!!!! CLICKED!
