NATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS MEMORIAL FUND PROTESTS 25 to LIFE© VIDEO GAME
Parents, Caregivers Urged to Boycott Violent Game

"It is absolutely unconscionable that game makers are enabling young people — or anyone — to dramatize shooting and killing as a form of entertainment while officers and innocent people are dying in real-life on our streets every day," said NLEOMF Chairman Craig W. Floyd. "We're encouraging parents, caregivers and everyone who is concerned about both law enforcement officers and children to ensure this game never makes it into the homes or hands of impressionable young people."

ummm ...the game is Rated M ..if parents are buying the game for their children then they're to blame ..it's like giving your kids alcohol and then screaming at the alcohol company for making booze

"Players of 25 to Life© are presented with a scenario that enables them to choose between playing as a law enforcement officer, or a drug dealer who role-plays shooting fellow gang members and law enforcement officers. The Web site advertising the game boasts that players have "more than 40 weapons to choose from, including shotguns, machine guns, stun guns and tear gas."

so in other words it's their choice if they want to play good guy or bad guy?

"Noting that in the past 10 years, 70 officers have been killed by people under the age of 18, Mr. Floyd said, "While it's true that players are given a choice between wearing a badge or the colors of a gang, the ultimate message carried by the game is that some players are justified in endangering the lives of police officers. That's a terrible message for anyone, but particularly so for young people who are already confronted with numerous choices that can lead to dangerous consequences. Regardless of your views on free speech or marketplace dynamics, there is really nothing good that can be said about this game. The images are wrong. The messages are wrong. And stocking it in U.S. stores is wrong."

and unfairly targeting a game meant for adults is wrong ..you should probably go after tv cuz a day doesnt go by that a bad guy isnt shooting at a police officer ..but of course tv is too big of a fish to fry ..I can watch someone get decapitated on prime time but I cant play a game that features cartoon like graphics?

Huh, the game is so crappy I didn't think anyone would care about it.

exactly ..it got horrible reviews ..this will just give it undue advertising

People are idiots without a clue, a lot of the time.

Rabble-rabble-rabble!

i banned it from my house too...and im only 15! i refuse to let that shit into my house...well my parents house, BUT I STILL WONT LET IT IN!

I was thinking what if the company modyfi the game so you play as police only and make it in honor to the mens and womans who work in the police

something like "this game is in memory of the mens and womans that works in the polcie departsments of the USA"

just like the cops videos

It looks pretty damn worthless.

I guess Jack Thompson had some broodlings :(

Damn you Zerg Queen!

Cops die in this country everyday.

But the game sucks anyway so there's no real need for it.

There's probably some obscure hentai anime which you could find with content like that in it :p.

Ontupac: I agree with RJMC. If it had "this game honours all those that died enforcing the law. Our thoughts are with you" and let's you have the police-only campaign, then they would say that it's the best game to come out of developers, and accurately portays the trouble the police have to go through every day.

Hahaha, good one.

Are you even reading their arguments? They don't like it because gamers are having fun being a cop, but in reality it is not "fun", people die. Putting in that message won't do crap either.

Why would they care if kids are having fun playing good guy? They'll grow up to want to be police-men, and can fill in for all the police that keep dying every day.

EDIT: Hell if the government lowers the age needed to join the force, then they can skip school altogether and live their gaming dreams right now.

yeah any game like that should be banned. Half Life's and i guess Counter Strike (it came with the package :S) are the only M games i play. I think CS:S is pretty retarded but Hl and hl2 are amazing. Who really would make a game like this, although then you have to ask yourselves about movies as well. I mean, im not against them, but why not target them? Kids get into R's all the time, I mean, who didn't see the Matrix (matrix isn't necessarily bad)?

Well, of course. But he said that making those modifications would make the game acceptable by the police, but it wouldn't.

I think the smiley you're looking for is...

yeah even on p2p file sharing the download rate is max of 5000 in a week LOL

its so shit...........

I support the ban... but for entirely different reasons.

I support the ban on that game (I don't want to mention its name lest my tongue might spontaneously hemorrhage) for the same reason I would support a ban on the "music" of Britney Spears, Hanson, the Backstreet Boys, Avril Whatsherface, etc. They're all shit that doesn't deserve to be in the same category as the rest of their respective industries.

The only damaging effect that game will have is turning people away from gaming if it is the first game they have ever played.

Seriously, why would anyone continue after such a horrible experience?

'Cause they be morons? :|
