Anybody played this old school DOS game? I remember when I was a little kid, I'd always yell at my dad, asking him what to imput so I could get the guy to lay on the ground and let me arrest him without getting shot and killed.

I'm replaying the game, and omfg, it's hard as holy living hell. I havn't gotten out of the police station yet, I keep not knowing what to do.

Walkthough, here I come.

That was the first of the SWAT series.

SWAT 3 was awsome, SWAT 4 sucks.

Hmm, odd how this game mutated into SWAT 3 D:

Anyway, yeah...this game is hard as hell, still can't exit police station :(

Gotta..attend meeting somehow...and get the keys, and inspect the car..and wish I could drive the corvette...

No, it actually wasn't the first of the SWAT series. That honor goes to Police Quest: SWAT. Before that, there were 4 old-school Sierra adventure games bearing the Police Quest name.

That said, Police Quest is tough. They throw you in a situation where your character is supposed to know everything about being a cop, but you, the gamer, knows just about nothing about being a cop, so you do one tiny thing wrong and its "Game Over." Obviously they didn't think quite hard enough about their audience here.

The constant saving and restoring is what made Sierra games so memorable. I love all the 'Quest' series and LL too.

This is where Lucasarts bested them, I think, in that in most Lucasarts adventures, you were never (really) killed and your character started off knowing practically nothing so that you, the gamer, could learn about the quests along with your character. Much better IMHO.

I loved the old school Police Quest games. I liked them all but Police Quest 4 was my favorite and absolutely amazing for the time.

Holy crap, I remember that game :)
I could probably play through to the furthest I got if I had it in front of my, but can't remember any specific tips unfortunately. Except something about checking your pigeonhole in the station maybe...

Edit: Damn double-post. I even checked the thread to see if the 1st one went through before posting *mutter*

PLayed Police Quest 4, think that was on W95 tho. Dont remember thinking it was anything special. Tbh, out of Windows games out around that time, Fury 3 was my fav.

SWAT 2 owned Swat 3 and 4.
Man... I remember yelling at my brother on how to load up games on the apple a long time ago.

Haha! Yeah, wasn't it only like a tiny little line and the other cars were just tiny little (different-colored) dashes on the road too? Amazing how immersed I felt though!
