What is it with politicians and sex? Those two don't seem to mingle. We have a recent scandal in US politics, there was of course the Lewinski case, the Profumo-Keeler affair was a classic, and I could go on and on.

I personally think it has something to do with power. The more powerful a politician perceives himself to be, the more he wants to use that power. Some women seem to be attracted to power like bees to honey, so it's a logical match.

What I don't get, is that all those politicians seem to think that they can get away with it. I mean, sending an e-mail containing a lewd proposal to a 16 y.o. in an election year (check the link to the BBC story). How stupid can you be? Stuff like that won't ever disappear. Monica Lewinski even kept the dress with Clinton's semen.

Anyway, what's your opinion on the subject?

At the end of the day, no matter what their title is, they're still human. Clinton was a fantastic president, makes one little mistake, and he is victimised, when it should of just been a private matter for him and his family.

On that note, I've been seeing a lot of Clinton lately on TV (by lately, I mean...the last couple of years) and I really like him.

I kind of wish I were a little older while he was president. I remember him being president, but not in the way I remember Mr. Bush.

I remember everything about the bush presidency from the election on, and it's a shame because I think I would have liked Clinton.

I used to like Clinton cause he was a hoe-humping skankbanger, as Maddox so elegantly puts it, but then I found out he hangs out with the angry left. That kind of did it for me.

Politicians are no more dirty than your average guy - they just get plenty of opportunity to spread the love around and have 100's of parasitic reporters ready to tell everyone about it.

I wouldn't care if the prime minister got caught nuts deep in a pig as long as he was a good at his job and the pig was having a good time.

Sex and politics/power??? Indeed poor Clinton. Some affair and a BJ and the shit has hit the fan.
No problem for Mr Bush. Robots and puppets don't have the need to reprocreate ;) And sex is as normal as eating...Check maslovfor proof.

ironically enough Mark Folley (conservative) was also the chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children

He introduced a bill in 2002 to outlaw websites featuring sexually suggestive images of preteen children, saying that "these websites are nothing more than a fix for pedophiles."

Foley's legislation to change federal sex offender laws was supported by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, America's Most Wanted host John Walsh, and a number of victims' rights groups. President George W. Bush signed it into law as part of the Adam Walsh Child Safety and Protection Act of 2006.

Foley also succeeded in getting a law passed that allows volunteer youth-serving organizations like the Boy Scouts of America and Boys and Girls Clubs to have access to FBI fingerprint background checks to help protect children.

what a hypocrite

Ugh, what a hypocrite indeed.

That's another typical character trait most politiciains have: hypocrisy.

Why do common poeple tend to side with a certain party liberal/conservative.

They only vote for the person because of their beliefs, is their no independant voters here that does'nt vote for one party in particular?

How anyone can vote for the Republicans now, based on their attempts to shield the paedophile Foley is beyond me, especially considering they're supposedly the "pure" party.

I could ask the very same question about voting for Labour...

I don't really think Labour has gone out of it's way to protect a paedophile in full public view.

No, but I can think of much worse things that both the Bush administration and New Labour have done.

I agree. Ultimately, at the end of the day, they are just like you, the guy walking down the street. It's just when it happens to them the whole world knows about it.
