I see a lot of people posting the fact that they will create a Mod for Half-Life2. Here's your chance to voice your opinion.

How many Mods announced here for Half-Life2 will actually get finished and be released to the public?

The part of real survivors is less than 10%. Most mods are based upon a idea. Not bad. But ppl seem to forget that mods need a great load of work before the actual work starts. Conceptioning, planning and a roadmap are only pieces of the puzzle "A successful mod".
I've seen a lot of good ideas in thes forums. But a good idea does not finish a mod. ppl often realize the amount of work after starting the mod. That's often the case.

My vote goes to "Less than 10%"

I think more 10-20%. Of course, less than 10% are REAL mods (teams, graphics, code, everything together in a nice format and execution) and the other just stupid mods that tend to survive :)

But keep in mind that much posted here are ideas, not mods. And a few more (my mod for instance, Dark Waters, weeks from a final design) are still being planned, but nonetheless posted. One cant say untill a few months after HL2 release, then we see which one's raise above the rest and survive...

Another large percentage is also joined projects, not really non surviving.

Not many....

(its too hot right now so i cant write any longer...maybe ill do it later..)

It's the same as all the other mods for any other game, about 50-100%, being specific more like 75-80 will survive.

When I talk about MP mods: about 10% to 20% will have an alpha release however less then 1% will be popular or get a decent gamers community. It's just like HL1: I can remember there are only 4 or 5 popular MP mods (out of 200?) (CS, DoD, Natural-Selection, SvenCoop and maybe 1 or 2 more) note: tfc isn't a mod, it's an addon.

When designing a nice mod, decent storyline and good teamplay it's will need a huge shitload of work like cencepting, modeling, coding etc etc...

I voted between 10%-20% because there are still allot people haven't announced yet that will fail too. What really sucks is that even some of the ones with really good ideas will die due to teams falling appart and whatnot and that's a shame.

The hardest part of making a mod is not the planning or even the moddling, coding ect ect ect......

Its putting together a good team who can work well togther and at a reasonable pace.

..and a team that will stick together even if they have an alpha release that people dont really like or other types of negative feedback.

any mod can survive. It just depends on hom much work they put into it.
