Poll: Mouse inverted or normal?

Do you invert your mouse in FPS games?

  • No. Why would I want my gun to go up when I move down?

I assumed this was already done but I couldn't find it with a search. Besides, the demographic could change as the years go by. So which is it?

(Inverted by the way)

I always thought inverted controls were the dumbest thing ever, ever, ever. I don't care how old school it is, DUMB.

Yeah, I can't even begin to argue in favor of inverted mode, but I learned this way and it's become such second nature for me that I'll die playing this way. Funny to think that 10 years ago I might even have been in the majority. :D

Never inverted mouse, but I don't mind an inverted analoge stick.

^This.

I have always played with inverted analog sticks, I don't know why. My friends always make fun of me for it, its annoying because every time we play and switch controls we have to edit the settings. I can swing both ways though.

Normal, its absolutely retarded to have inverted controls, especially in FPS.

Mutoid? I haven't seen this nikka around in ages.
Normal.

Inverted controls only make sense with a joystick in flight sims as you want to move the nose of your aircraft/spacecraft/whatever in the direction you pull/push. Now a mouse you're moving on a 2d surface to move a cursor on a 2d surface above it. It makes no sense to use inverted.

I remember using inverted in Dungeon Keeper.

And that was the last of that.

Non-inverted. Whenever I tried inverted I could never stop myself from moving the mouse/stick as if the X axis was inverted as well as Y.

NORMAL! ****ing hate airplane controls!

The only person I've ever met who played with inverted look controls was a drug addict. True story.

You mean the setting or do we use trackballs? I use the following mouse, and I figured everyone who used an 'upside down' mouse changed the y-axis setting to inverted.

Normal, except in flight sims (which I never play).

I swear, everyone I know plays inverted, and it's ****ing annoying for games that don't support profiles and shit.

I use whatever controls are set. I hardly never change the control scheme. Exept in cs. i like radio commands on the zxc keys.

Aye, only when playing flying games. But then I usually don't use a mouse for that.

Never used inverted controls with a mouse before, but inverted just makes sense to me with analogue sticks.

I use it just normally. It's just what you get used to I suppose. I started out inverted on consoles too, then after playing PC FPSes for a while, I switched to normal on consoles.

WRONG, You're all WRONG.

What's all this bollox about 2D plain + 2D plain = down is down up is up?

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG.

Your monitor is 90 degrees to your mouse's plain of movement, therefore there is no relation between the mousemat and the top and bottom of your monitor, unless you THINK there is. Furthermore, your brain translates an upside-down image from the retina via the optic nerve and reverses it. All you are doing is reversing it AGAIN because your brains are too SMALL to comprehend what in fact they are doing naturally, thus using more synaptic energy, actually shortening your life span by 1 year per headshot and increasing the chances of senility before the age of 50 by 80%.

Inverted is the ONLY TRUE WAY to use a mouse, you are all backward inbred hillbilly sheep with no 3D brain awareness, which is why I always have a better score than you.

Normal.

EDIT: ****, I clicked the wrong one by accident >.>

Hey look, I move the mouse up on the mousepad, and the cursor goes up on the screen! Now I move the mouse down... oh, lookit that, the cursor went down. Fancy that.

When i move my mouse down, it goes left thanks to the shit clogged in it.

normal for a mouse

inverted for a gamepad (360)

Normal for both Mouse and Gamepad. I hate inverted i automatically always try to move in the direction i want to view having me do the opposite annoys the hell out of me. The only time i use inverted is in Flight Simulator only cause then it feels natural.

Normal for mouse and gamepad for me too i used to do inverted on gamepads on FPS,s for a while years ago.
Oh and i use inverted for flight sims i play quite a few flight sims.

Inverted.

I come from the old Quake days. Pulling the mouse down is easier than pushing it up. In games you generally have to reliably aim upwards more than downwards. In my experience, inverted is better. Especially with flicking. Inverted is in no way retarded, and it's silly to argue that non-inverted is better in any way. I'm surprised not more people use it.

Normal. Up is up and down is down. We're not flying an airplane.

Some parts move forwards, others move backwards.

What kinda crazy muhfuh mantis head you got?

Mouses move FORWARD, not UP. Mouses move BACKWARD, not DOWN. In FPS's, the mouse is your HEAD. Flight sticks work on the same principle, because it is naturally more intuitive.

You chin moves forward when you look up, right? The crown of your head moves backwards when you tilt your head back too, yeah?
Diagonally forwards and back at least.
