g'day, so im waiting for the steam servers to cool off a little, and am picking up HL2 on Thursday. Anyhow, I am kinda concerned with my computer. that stupid game advisor says in in the middle between recommended PC and minimum PC, but Im definitely not convinced.
First of all, my comp will have been completely formatted tomorrow, and nothing but HL2 and all new drivers, and msn messenger will be on my computer lol.
Im kind of concerned because I have seen a lot of threads on here with people worried about their (relatively) monster computers not being able to run it. (like "will my crappy 9800 XT run HL2" type of stuff).
Im not concerned with lower graphics, frankly I dont care that much about graphics, Ill go the 800 x 600 route with everything cranked to the lowest if need be....its the gameplay I want, not the graphics...I can go to my buddies down the street if I want to oogle graphics.
So the current specs are as follows:
AMD Athalon XP 2000+ (1.67 ghz)
GeForce 4 Ti 4200 (128 meg version)
256 mg DDR RAM
plenty of HD (100 + gigs)
I dont really have too much money, but I think I can afford an additional 512 stick o' RAM....making the total 768 (Damn I hate college). Will a RAM upgrade really make a big enough difference in gameplay for me to justify doing?
