Poor, poor Sony...

We should just have a separate forum for bashing Sony.

True. Sony bashing seems to be the 'in' thing these days.

But to add to the topic, idea of the loss of Square Enix as being an exclusive Playstation developer would be a huge loss for Sony. I know that Sony isn't the only console maker to have a Square title in their games library. Both Nintendo and MS have a Final Fantasy title in their libraries, but if Square were to focus on other consoles more than the Playstation.... the combination of Square and Sony has, in the past, been more than enough to sway gamers towards the sony label....gg Sony.

Didn't they already confirm they were doing 13 on the PS3?

Yes, there will be FF13 on the ps3, but the important part is that if the association of Square and Sony is broken, it would mean less exclusivity for SquareEnix titles on the Playstation format. That would be bad for sony because this gives their opponents(Xbox/Wii) a chance to have a major title by a very well known developer. I wasn't saying that SquareEnix would quit making games for the Playstation...

If this little news blurb is true, Imagine the FF series on the 360... in conjunction wth Live! support it would be possible to have a co-op FF game. Not that this couldn't be done on Playstation's service, but Live! is just a better service.

How is Live! a better service? I've never used either for online, since I'm too poor to get the network adapter for my PS2, and too lazy to run the cable...but, is the PlayStation net really THAT shitty?

Live is pretty awesome, much better than anything Sony did with the Ps2.
For $50 a year it's worth it(Plus you can find a ton of coupons). While I don't have an Xbox or 360 my cousins do. It's quite a quality service. Better than a lot of online pc services.

I, not an owner of any Xbox, have to agree that Live! is awesome. Yes, you pay for it, but it's really a nice service.

Perhaps, but it's more like Live is just that good.

I've used it since around 2003 or 2004 or something... Never regretted paying the yearly fee!

I can't wait for Games for Windows Live :) Now that one subscription should give me access to the same quality network on both Vista and X360!

I thought I read somewhere that Square were already considering making games for 360, but more on-the-side, like what they're doing for Nintendo consoles at the moment. They already have experience using Xbox 360 and XBL with FFXI, so maybe they were impressed with the service and wanted to make more online titles for it (as well as PC, especially now with Live Anywhere which could be neat for MMOs).

However the impression I got is that they'd still be exclusive to Sony for the big number titles. Personally I really can't imagine (proper) Final Fantasy titles on an American console for some reason, and even if they stick with Playstation aswell, they've never really done ports - not straight away anyway.

Well ... I don't like Square and I hate MMO's, so I really don't care. This would however be bad for Sony, although nothing too catastrophic. Their main series is Final Fantasy and that's likely to remain on PS.

Also it would be nice if this could actually be confirmed.
