pop ups on xp : Help!

i keep getting pop ups on xp...and its pissing me off.....how can i stop them..... all the anti-pop programs ive came across on the net , u have to pay for them?!?!?!? any free downloads?

Find messenger and disable

Ctrl Alt Delete and close down all the processes under your administration name
i.e. if your logged in under John Henry, close all programs under John Henry, dont close the Windows processes, or the John Henry ones that you want to stay on. For example, if you have Hydravision from ATi, dont close it in processes.

they could be the same pop-ups I was getting.. try doing this...

right click on "my network places"

then right click on "local area connection"

hit the "advanced" tab

and make sure there is a checkmark in the box beside where it says "protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the interent"

this might do the trick.

Lavasoft Ad-Aware. Run it and it'll delete any spyware that you have on that computer of yours. And make sure Kazaa is closed, of course.

your solutions depend on what kinda pop ups these pop ups are . the first one is the best, i think, since it directly shuts down the service which makes the pop ups possible.

your pop ups are windows messenger services for windows XP

search for a program using google called

message subtract

that gets rid of them and its a free download!
