I think Portal has the best music of any Valve game to date. It's a fantastic soundtrack with some really great ambient/soundscape pieces. I know you can extract the music files from the Source files but I don't know how this is done. Saying that though I wish Valve would release some game music as CD's in the Valve shop. I think that would be great & I'd certainly buy a copy of the Portal soundtrack.

you have to be quite a hard core fan to buy a CD with one song 3 minute song on it

I believe the sound scapes were done by valve's sound guys just like all hl2s music

If they were to make a soundtrack, it would most likely include these 12 tracks:

4000 Degrees Kelvin
Android Hell
No Cake For You
Party Escort
Procedural Jiggle Bone
Self Esteem Fund
Still Alive
Stop What You Are Doing
Subject Name Here
Taste Of Blood
You Can't Escape You Know
You're Not A Good Person

EDIT: Uploaded for convenience.

Your a superstar. Cheers ;)

Android Hell is fantastic. Really moody. I love this stuff. Are you uploading everything from the Portal soundtrack?

I'm a huge fan of Kelly Bailey's work on the Half-Life games. A lot of the sound effects created are so unique to this series. I can't really afford to buy the orange box for a pc that won't play the games (I have the 360 version), so I can't do my usual GCF Scape extracting job. This thread is gold-dust for people obsessed with game soundtracks like me, If I beg enough, would you upload Episode 2's as well?

Thanks a lot for helping out a fellow fan! I feel almost guilty suddenly getting all this! I don't really have anything to give in return.

Hey dogboy73 - me too! 'No Cake For You' literally sent shivers down my spine the first time I heard it (in-game), and still does when I hear it.

For anyone else who likes Kelly Bailey's ambient/electronic music, you'd probably also like both 'Boards of Canada' [Wikipedia] and 'Aphex Twin' [Wikipedia]. I've discovered both of these within the last year, and can't get enough of them. They do some real dark and moody (mostly ambient) music, especially Aphex Twin. If you like '4000 Degrees Kelvin', you'd like his stuff. Boards of Canada are a little more light and easy listening. In fact - I've just realised that I'm listening to them right now, lol

Some of you may also have heard of 'Juno Reactor' [Wikipedia]. If you like the more energetic electronic music from Half-Life 2 / Episode 1 (I haven't done Eppy 2 yet ), then you'll probably love his music. Some of his tracks have even featured in the Matrix films . The scene in Reloaded when they are riding the motorbike on the motorway - that's a track called 'Mona Lisa Overdrive'.

If I was a betting man, I'd bet that Kelly Bailey probably listens to these. At least, I'd like to think so :)

Anyways, getting back to Portal... the music was awesome indeed. This seems to be the case with all Valve games. My congratulations to Kelly Bailey and anyone else who has played a part in making the soundtracks *applause* :D. I haven't done Eppy 2 yet, so my ears have got that to look forward to :imu:.

Loool - I was just about to order a Boards of Canada EP (In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country) at Amazon.co.uk, and look at who's review is at the top - dogboy73!

'Self Esteem Fund' is my favourite track. Lovely soundscapes.

Is it possible for me to get "02_portal_taste_of_blood" - in wav format? I'm not looking for mp3. I wonder wether oryginal dvd/cd of the game has this music in audio /wav format.

Please, does anyone have JUST this song in high quality? Please, this one is probably one of the greatest ambient music for me. I need it :(
