My 360 was bought at Christmas, and just yesterday I discovered it finally had the dreaded '3 red lights of doom' on it.

Too bad my warranty ran out 2 months ago, and my parents would doubtfully buy a brand new one (I've got no monies either), so I was wondering - When a 360 gets the 3 red lights of doom - is it repairable?

Could I take it into a shop and get it fixed, or is it garbage?

Supposely wrapping a towel around it and letting it run for a few minutes works?
My friend claims it works by the heat resoldering some parts of the 360.
I imagine it'll either start your 360 on fire or fix it.

Didn't they extend the warranty for the 3 ring lights of doom? Or was that only for consoles bought after a certain date.

I think everyone should at least get some basic soldering experience, if it's a dry or bad joint issue you can easily fix it yourself. I get fully working 68cm TVs for $10 because of a few bad joints.

dunk the power brick in water while it's on... this should cool it down

Yeah. Dump the electrically powered box into a tub of water.
