I rarely have enough money to buy a brand new (70-80 dollar) game, I usually buy used.. ugh.. I HATE used, more then half the games I own are used.............

.. oh, well, anyways..

So I finally have enough money for a new game! I've chosen my 360 over my Wii for the next new game (even though I have just Zelda for Wii, and like 7 games for 360), and you guys NEED to help me decide on what game to buy!

I have no racing games, normally my brother buys racing games (he likes 'em) and I buy killing games ( :) ), but my brother moved out a few months ago, so I have no racing games for my 360 D:
I was thinking of buying Colin McRae: DiRT (is it even out? I'm so behind the game news, it's not even funneh), but I'm not sure it'd be worth it, as it seems to be a sim, and I FREAKING HATE Gran Turismo because it's like that "realistic", I'm more of a Midnight Club/Need for Speed/Burnout racing fan.

But, it doesn't HAVE to be a racing game, I'm open to killing, as always.

I haven't played a new game since Dead Rising came out, so I'll probably be wowed with what they've got now..

Thanks for ye ol' help.

EDIT: Is STALKER for the 360? Is it any good?

Oh yea, no PC games.. My PC is officially garbage when it comes to gaming.

Burnout Paradise sounds like it would be your thing when it comes out. Eh, I'd say The Darkness, Gears of War, or wait for BioShock to come out since it's really not far off.

It looks like The Darkness is just a regular FPS, though (with the tentacle thingys), does it do anything else?

I got GoW

I would wait for Bioshock, but by then I'll have a job (getting one soon (like 2 months), so I'll be able to buy it when it comes out..

I can't really wait, seeing as how I'm going tomorrow to buy something.. I live in the country and can't drive, the only way to get around is my parents, and they only drive me around on weekends (sometimes).

I'm actually intrigued by STALKER and The Darkness, now..

EDIT: Wait, is STALKER just for PC? Or is it for 360, too?

It's pretty neat, the powers are really cool, but the executions and gunplay wears thin after a while. Still worth it if you like dark FPS. I just remembered that Burnout Paradise won't even be out 'till Winter lol.

Ok, I've looked over the list for all available 360 games, and here's what I'm looking at:

Condemned: Criminal Origins - I have this on PC, too bad my PC is shit, and can't run it. I've played 20 minutes of 10-20 frames per second, lowest graphics on PC.

The Darkness - Everyone says it's good..

Hitman: Bloodmoney - Same as Condemned for me (I own it for PC, but it runs like crap), except I've played through it at lowest graphics, 10-20 FPS.. To the end... uuhhhh... It sucked at crap graphics..

That's it.. I figured there would be alot more games for 360 then that..

Should I just buy 2-3 used games or something? For my PS2, or PC? I'm not REALLY looking for a brand-new game, just something that'll last me a long-ass time, but a new game would be nice.

Just a few games I really enjoyed:

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2
Test Drive Unlimited (Arcade Style Racing)
Rainbow Six Vegas

I just picked up The Darkness the other day. It's lots of fun, and the plot makes for some awesome scenes later on. There's humor that's enough to make you at least chuckle at points all the way through it, as well.

I totally recommend this one.

I say go to the Arcade and buy a bunch of various games.

Bomberman Live! Worms! Those two alone are amazing and costs $20

I might actually be a little nostalgic and buy Diablo 2 for single player (gay dial-up), and just browse around the store until I see something coolie cool.

Although if The Darkness is REALLY THAT good...

wtf. Bomberman live got the worst score for an 360 game. It's horrible.

Don't forget tentacle impaling, wise-crack making, and ****ing black hole creating!

Plenty of good games coming out later in the year that are (probably) more worthy of your hard-earned cash. Right now I'd say go used and get 2-3 current titles instead (all the recommendations so far have been pretty good). Or alteast hire before you buy full-price.

Or reconsider getting another Wii game :p

The only Wii game worth it (even the ones in development) is Super Paper Mario, but even then.. Is it worth 40 bucks? How much playtime is there?

the darkness is a very polished game, very cinematic, its a shame its so short, check out the gamespot vid review for a good rundown.

i picked up DIRT a few weeks ago for 30euros, so far i really enjoy it, i'm not a huge racing fan at all, not into sim-racers, DIRT is a good go between, the rallying is the best part imo, powersliding FTW, getting a clean stage is so awesome..

the damage model is great and the presentation is one of the best i've seen in a game, i dont have live but supposedly mp sucks, however there is alot of sp fun to be had, alot of events, different racing series, sadly i was disappointed that there was no weather effects really, no rain or snow :( there is wet tarmac etc but no actual rain, however the game still looks beautiful.

I've just ordered Saints Row for the 360 because now its a classic and only 17 quid (about 30 dollars?) so should be good for a bit of pre-GTAIV gaming. The demo was fun anyway.

I want a decent game for my Wii though because i've not played on that in months. God damn you Nintendo, bring something decent out!

So, I'm sending my brother to pick up The Darkness, if they don't have that, then it'll be DiRT.

Thanks fr all your helps.

BTW, Pobz, I've got Saints Row, didn't you see my thread about how it almost exploded?

I'ma downloading the The Darkness demo right now. Well, when I'm on BF2.

And Saints Row is awesome, Pobz. Blatent SA rip-off but damn if it isn't fun. They just took all of the things in SA and upgraded/polished them, like combat, customization, missions, chracters, indoor buildings, detail to the environment, etc.

Yeah, it's a rip of GTA, but it's really fun.

So I started reading up and asking friends about The Darkness before I got it, and people said that it was a short game, they beat it in a day, etc. And the way I play games (once I get it, play it non-stop for the first day, then play it like a normal game after that) it would be a good rent for me, so I didn't get it. Plus I have no XBOX Live, so it'd suck even more.

I ended up going to EB Games, expecting to get Condemned instead, and wtf. They had NOTHING. They had The Darkness ($85 with taxes CDN, there was also a used copy, 5$ off...), and that's it. No Condemned, no God of War 2, no other games I had in mind, no NOTHING. Hell, they only had like 7 PC games, all of which I either own, or my PC can't run (they were all good ones, not one bad one), and they had nothing. I hadn't been there in a while, and last time I went they had a whole wall for PC games, now it's a dusty little corner with Tiberium Wars, and Supreme Commander, plus the Diablo/Starcraft Battle chests (they are always there, for some reason).

They weren't sold out or anything, it's like they didn't stock any good games in that day.. It was stupid.

But I did go there, and didn't want it to be a waste, so I bought the only good game (that I didn't own) that was there.

DiRT. It's really fun. Only flaw is that there isn't enough customization, and not enough cars. That's all, but the customization kind of balances out with the tweaking before a race. Each race takes me about an hour, after tweaking, testing, etc. It's really fun, and I always watch my entire replays, they are movie-quality, they look a CG movie, it's awesome to watch, dammit! It's not even sim-ish, though. It was nice and arcade-y, just the way I like it! (manual user, btw. still don't got the hang of shifting...)

Seriously I'm kind of shocked, though, normally they have alot of good games to choose from, I'm usually there for half-hour choosing between 2-3 really good games, this time I was choosing which one sucked the least..

Thanks for the help, anyways, guys. I didn't get the game I wanted, but I still got a damn good one. First racing game for my 360!

Good on ya :)

Heh, and the only things EB are good for over here is sales and pre-owned stuff.

Seconded. Getting Supreme Commander (so excited for expansion pack!) for $30 on the day after its release is never bad.

I played the demo for The Darkness. Was pretty fun IMO, but looked like it might get old quick.

I'm surprised no-one suggested John Woo's Stranglehold. That looks really cool, and I thought it was coming out real soon.

Got it!

Here's my games-list for 360:

- Dead Rising
- Far Cry: Instincts Predator

lol, if anyone is curious, here my games list for Wii

- Zelda: Twilight Princess

Those are the ones I payed for.. (custom firmware 1.5, yea!)

Ah, what the hell, here are the games that I PAYED FOR, for my PC (I have about 100 games for my PC, BTW).. :)

- Ultimate Doom
- Hitman: Bloodmoney (I did have contracts, but I sold it.. dammit.. computer cannot run Bloodmoney, anyways)
- TESIV: Oblivion (no expansions, computer cannot run it, anyways, and I don't like to use oldoblivion)
- TESIII: Morrowind (both Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansions)
- Alien Shooter: Vengeance
- Gladiator: Road to Victory (it was $5 at Wal-Mart)
- Half-Life 2 (obviously..)

- A few more little games, like Lego Island, Sim city 1, Myst 1, etc.
Every other *major* game you hear me talk about.. well.. I didn't use any money to get it... Although, there are alot of games I sold, I used to sell games alot (games I bought), so I might talk about a game that I "have", but it's one I sold.

There... I'm putting a link to this post in my sig.. (if I can find out how..) I don't buy games alot, so I won't need to update this very much.

Gears of War is a goodie. To be honest, I didn't really like Dead Rising.
