Quick shot I took of the first real instance in Aion. Thought it looked cool, plus it's always fun to look back at old shots of your skill bar setup and the people who were in your group. :p

Am I crazy in thinking that this is a lot like WoW..? I've seen some gameplay videos, and that's pretty much the only reason I say that.

By that very logic every MMO in existence is like WOW.

The Old Republic isn't like WOW, neither is EVE, or Darkfall, or a myriad of other MMOs.

And yeah, I thought it was WOW as well. Looks very very similar.
 
It -looks- very similar UI-wise and all, but it's got a whole different feel to the gameplay. The most negative thing I can say about it is... it takes a long, long time to level. What I like about it is sort of hard to explain... you can really sort of feel the weight of your weapons and stuff. If I were to start playing WoW again I imagine swinging a sword would feel like swinging paper. Also in comparison to playing WoW at a similar level, I've got 10 times (okay, not that much more, but a lot more... some of my abilities you can't even see on my skill bar because they are chain skills that will pop up over other skills as I use them) as many abilities at my disposal, which is pretty cool. My class (templar, the tank class) doesn't get many PvP abilities until late in the game, so that sucks, but PvE-wise, it's pretty sick.

Like I said if you've only seen some gameplay videos you'll think every MMO is the same and well they are. Meanwhile as I'm not telling you what criteria I'm using to say they're the same your argument doesn't work.

Nah, a video of WoW looks nothing like a video of Eve, no matter what criteria your using.

Who's arguing, just stating the obvious. Perhaps if you said why they look the same to you then it would easier not to disagree with. "Don't argue with me because I say they look the same" doesn't really make your argument work either.

Oh but it does I'm just trying to dodge getting into a debate in a screenshot thread (You should have realised this by now). You might think they look different but to me no matter what footage I see every MMO looks the same (hence my by that logic comment, because I've seen a lot of gameplay videos in my time and just by viewing some gameplay videos I'd come to that conclusion based on the fact the majority of MMO titles are not worth my time). I'm just expressing my opinion that they do all look the same. So can we get back on bloody topic now?

They do. 3D games like the one I've posted are generally poorly optimised with poor graphics and maybe some HDR thrown in. You can see the frame rate counter top left that should tell you a lot.

Some parts of those shots look quite good and then others look like a mid 90's quake mod
