Post demo's here. Wanna see how u all play

Isn't there a way to make a demo someone without hl2 can see? Wanna convince a buddy to buy it.

How do I do to vuew the vids ?

Put these .dem files into the half life 2/hl2 directory. Start up the game. Open up the console and type playdemo "demoname" without quotes of course.

I'll aska again: How to get the console down?

This is a problem that many Scandinavians are experiencing. Here's what you do:
Create a txt-file in your cfg-dir. It's in
".../valve/steam/steamapps/you-steam-id-handle/half-life 2/hl2/cfg"
open the txt-file and enter this line (or copy-n-paste to make sure it's right):

bind "\" "toggleconsole"

Close and save it, and rename the file to autoexec.cfg. Violá, now you can press § to spawn the console.

go to options-keyboard-advanced
And then add -console to the shortcut.
*edit*
Sorry, I didn't know about the way elGee described. But is there no way to open a .dem file without opening hl2?

I have another demo here. This one is a fight with a helicopter on the airboat. Rather easy :p At one point I blow up and go flying in the air...I think I backed over an explosive barrel because it wasn't a mine or a rocket or anything. After the fight you'll see it glitch out for like 5 seconds or so. This is me going into the console and typing "stopdemo" apparently that doesn't stop recording...and I mess around a bit getting some health back. I move on and it glitches out again. Me going back to the console to record another demo only to see it says Still Recording... Oh well...another short fight. And a G-Man spotting to top it off.

There is no txt-file there.

EDIT: I had to create it myself. I really need to read thing through before I post. :D

fraps WILL chop frames reguardless how smooth it seem during capturing
the internal source renderer is much better as u can render at a steady framerate even if u have a very slow hd/video card/cpu/ram.

examples:
http://hl2.digital-ambulance.com/manhacks_appear_sound.avi
http://hl2.digital-ambulance.com/barnacle_small.avi
http://hl2.digital-ambulance.com/end_small.avi <-- be aware spoiler

all rendered on a rather bad pc.
2000+ athlon
512 ram @ 266Mhz
gf4 ti 4200 64mb

if ure getting choppiness while using fraps, make sure u record the demo first, then record while playing back the demo. that way u dont have to deal with the choppiness as you actually play.

btw jasen what program did u use to encode your demo to divx. im having a hard time getting a decent quality video. and u used fraps i presume at 30 fps?

no no. what im sayin is USE fraps! it is great to use for hl2 because it doesnt effect the game play at all! love it :)

choppy videos suck as a whole.
why would you make a choppy video when u can make a perfect fluent video at even better quality?

still it wont deliver the same quality then source rendered videos

not every1 has the pc to render videos on the fly.

basically: fraps is for noobs that dont know shit about video creating. :p

its described in the cs:s forums in the sticky thread, but not on the first post ... its somewhere on the page 4 i think

basically u only need:
bind "F11" "host_framerate 30; startmovie temp"
bind "F12" "endmovie"

and then put the images that get dumped to your hl2 folder together to an avi with either vdub or bmp2avi.

not bad not bad. pretty good actually. lets have a little battle going on who can do better at any particular part of the game. you pick a map, and we'll both play that section and let the forum decide whose a better player. this could be a fun idea.
