Post from Gabe about DoD source?

I played DoD CAL-i for a like 2 years, I'm sure it will be nice to see it on Source but I don't know how much I'll play..

I don't get it. Was he implying that they'll delay it if they have to?

Somehow i don't think the dod team not getting the source port finished will have any affect on the release status of HL2.

Gabe always support the community
I remember when he post about the AA problem in HL2 here

I think he meant that if the DOD team don't get a lot done in time, not all of the maps etc will be source quality, and they'll have to update them in patches

can we be sure that's the real Gabe Newell?

That's MrBond's new HL2 site. He used to be staff here.. I'm sure it's the real gabe

looks like a joke. that bman13 seems to respond right after gabe posts and registered the same day.

I doubt it. MrBond is also respected among the CS community, and he gave Gabe an official "VALVe Software" title.

Errr he signed up today and made 8 posts? That's a new.

A little weird, especially since he have a signature almost wanting an email to ask if it's real.

You might as well, if you're so skeptical. I don't see why it wouldn't be him

It is him, just the signature that said "Mail [email protected] for confirmation" like he was intimidating us to mail it, so we would believe he was the real deal without mailing.

Oh well too much paranoia :D

don't bother him or you will delay the game!!!! OMGSSA :afro:

Valve guys post in all sorts of different forums. There are plenty of other posts from that user that seem to be from Gabe.

its good to see Gabe visiting fansites and all :)
its not new.. but its always refreshing

Well that is his job, Public Relations and marketing director

The problem i can see is that they might be tempted to add in vehicals and planes and so forth.

Then, what would make it any different than battlefield really? They should be sure to keep it the way it is, the way that makes it brilliant. Pure infantry combat, in tight city environments. Dod pwned the ass off battlefield in the infantry department.

Yes, but i think maybe DoD2 might be a good time to add vehicles tho.

You couldn't really add vehicles to straight ports of the DoD maps. Few if any of them have enough room for a tank or something to drive around. You'd have to build new maps.

Vehicles add the need for space though, and Ureseus has a point, DoD's tight city enviroments and infantry combat are what keep it different from the Battlefield series.

Yep. I doubt copters would really work all that great in the game without radically altering it and just about everything about it gameplaywise.

I didn't know Gabe participated on forums but.....
yea... and we're special.... he informed the world about the 'incident' in this forum! so it's a historical landmark which has to be preserved! you hear that munro!? even after HL-6... this site HAS to stay up

that's why they should add vehicles people who say the game is too enclosed....it would be awesome to put a couple of jeeps into the maps that are a little more wide open, basically would give an opportunity for moving machine gun turrets which could be fun...i dunno i won't play it too much anyways.

Apparantly the IP's match up with Gabe when he posted on here, so AFAIK its legit. But then I've only got the word of someone telling me that and haven't seen proof myself. But since Greg is posting here, and Gabe's posted here before, then it wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination to accept that they will post on various sites. Their only human afterall. I imagine a few of them post without even letting on who they are. I know a few users on this site happen to be pretty important people who don't let on who they actually are to everyone else. So it stands to reason the same will apply on others sites too.

That's how I first found out about this website. Was just going through gamespot's news article when I saw halflife2.net.
