I want my desktop to look like that. How do I go about getting it to look like that. I want my desktop to look like that. Tell me now.

Up, Up, Down, Right, Left, Down, Up, Up, A, B, A, Start.
;)
Which part do you want to change? I installed three different programs, probably going to hog all my memory.
ObjectDock, DesktopX and WindowBlinds. Google and experiment.

I like everything that is in the first one. Pretty much the calender, the clock, the bottom of the thing, the mail thing, the uptime thing, everything. Its just so sleek and sexy.

Why thank you. ;)
I got rid of the lock-up button, didn't really fit in and I have that button on my keyboard anyway.
Everything you mentioned are widgets for DesktopX so you'll want that. The thing at the bottom is ObjectDock, and I personally wanted a different taskbar and window edge thing so I got WindowBlinds. Its all free but you can upgrade for more features.

At the moment, I saw Tr0n post a like to WinOSX. So I downloaded that and installed it. It looks very nice. I like it a lot, but I might change it although it will be hard to go back to normal after seeing how awesome this thing looks.

Thought I'd turn on a few bells and whistles for the desktop parade....

Meh, not exactly close, was going to put more effort into it and make it look as much as WinOSX as I could without using it. Then I got lazy.

I've seen it many times before but I never cared enough to remember the name. It might have "sphere" in the title.

EDIT: Oh, SphereXP

That's the one. Looks pretty but is largely useless :(
Should be a mainstay of longhorn though :D

Thats freaking awsome! :D

Now if I only had my computer, damn't... ;(

Itd be really kewl if you could run hl2 as your background...
(if not simpley for the background of the menu area.. those are always neat looking and move)

Well...does it take up a lot of resources and is it slow?

Since it's just a program...it would be cool if microsoft did something like that with longhorn. :D

Yeah, supposedly longhorn does away with 2d - everything is 3d accelerated even if shown in 2d? DirectX finally takes over, or so I've read ages ago. I've read some crazy shit about longhorn, though.

I guess thats cool. It looks like all it does is make the windows really small and slant them at a specific angel just to make it look 3D.

Yea longhorn will be doing that...it won't be exactly 3d like that sphere thing or suns "looking glass" project tho.

A bit OT, but does anyone know how to make image files located on the desktop (not wallpaper) display as thumbnails?

put them in a folder and view as thumbnail

or there's some freebie little app that turns most image format's icons into their image, but its a bit iffy i think.

Nah, that was the first thing I tried (switching on thumbnail view in explorer). Don't fancy iffyness!
Thanks anyway.

you could try one of those theme apps I suppose.. I'm sure one of them can use the image itself to create the icon in them, but since they kinda replace everything and well in my experience add nothing but instability, I wouldn't.. unless you really really want your PC to look like a Mac or have a big digital watch on the desktop, which is what they seem to be good for.

dang boy, think you could make your icons any bigger?
how do you get ichat to look like that?

i used trillian pro 3 and i used the IChat skin, ill post the info later

Its from a program called Aston Shell. it completly replaces the explorer shell with another one

Why do people have shortcuts to My Computer on their desktop? You can have it without the shortcut bit by telling Windows to show it in the Display menu ;(

Does it even make a difference?

yea it does. The shortcut version has that annoying square with that ugly arrow. It makes me gag.
