I think it'll give people a good idea of how Oblivion looks on different computers, both new and old. I will have screenshots tomorrow!

tiggersightseeing6pv.jpg

AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Asus A8N SLI
4x 512MB dual channel
X850XT (with the latest Omega drivers)

Everything on high
Resolution 1280x1024
4x AA
16x AF

You know I can max out the settings and it will look like on any rig with a 2.0 Shader Model with the same settings.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. Sure it would be stupid to do, but it's perfectly possible for people to be running the game at higher settings than they should be.

Hands up if you want pics of my rig (you should all know how uber-shit it is by now) playing Oblivion at a framerate of 50+ ? I'm talking full graphics with interior and exterior shadows on high. Only things that aren't on are stuff like grass shadows, because they won't let me...

Could anyone post what it looks like in 1024*768 on lowest settings? I really wanna know what it will look like on my FX5200

Seconded :D... although you'd probably have to go lower than the lowest settings. :p

I just found this video of a comparison between lowest settings and high settings...

Doesn't look THAT bad on lowest.

Yeah, if you can somehow get bigger view distances without sacrificing the framerate too much, the game will actually be fun

Hey guys, I finally managed to pull myself away from the game! Here's a few screens, sorry, they're a little small

My specs are: GeForce FX 5900, 768 mb RAM, AMD Athlon XP 2500+ 1.8 GHZ, I'm using Oldblivion version 0.11t1

A nice view of a mountain

Some kind of ruins I found
http://img71.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshot54hd.jpg

There's some sort of magical fountain inside
http://img205.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshot97bm.jpg

Cool...
http://img124.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshot102sv.jpg

Nice view of Imperial City, I dunno why there are trees in the water!

Thats it for now, I will go play again, and post more later

MY MOTHER****ING PRNTSCRN IS NOT WORKING GGGGGGGGGGGGGW(ue812yu 8ayc8wtea

Do this: Go into my documents, my games, and oblivion and there is a file that's just called Oblivion, you can open it with notepad or something and find the line that says bAllowScreenShot=0 and change the 0 to 1, and when you press printsceen while playing it should make a screenshot in your Oblivion folder

Why are you using Oldblivion? Your GPU can handle the game.

Specs:

vtech Discover Notebook (with contrast and volume controls)

Screenie:

AMD 3800+ X2
7800GT
1 GIG PC3200
250gig SATAII HD

Settings:
Everything pretty much max....
1600x1200
HDR ON
FPS: Outside 25 avg...inside 30 avg....
I play normally on a lower res (1024x768) and get 75fps inside and 40fps out.

Nice. Once we get some money I will be getting a new computer like yours! It's about time, my computer was good for the first year I had it, and it's almost 3 years old now.

^ Well he does have grass disabled from the looks of it...

Maybe OldBlivion optimized it alot?

no screens im afraid

rig: x800xt
gig ddr2 ram
3.2ghz p4

settings:
autodetected high but..
maxed grass distance
changed texture res to medium

Other:
no aa
af? none i think, its set to ap.preference in my ati ctrl centre
bloom
turned on soft shadows and tree canopy shadows
turned of grass shadows coz they glitched

runs choppy but playable most of the time

And you're playing in this resolution?

Yep, 1280x1024

4AF, 0AA, no grass, objects/actors/items at 20% fade, trees at 0% (ie speed tree sprites always on but they still look ok), max draw distance with all distant LOD objects on, medium textures and a few INI tweaks.

I am playing on a 7800GT, Ive posted some videos. I run on 1280x1024, HDR and everything maxxed. I will post the screens a bit later. (Having fun shooting stuff with my bow.) but it looks beautiful on my setup. (Just to find a good scene for you guys and to get that no soup patch.

Well, this was a waste of $50 D:...

The game crashes when I...

Try to change my video options and after the intro when hitting new game. :|

Yet it says the Geforce FX series is supported, what a load of shit. >.>

Give Oldblivion a try. It launches from it's own exe. There are a ton of tweaks you can do so don't give up so quick.

I already tried Oldblivion, the only difference is that the DOS Prompt shows up with the pixel shader try-out stuff, it still crashes the same.

It seems that my FX5200 has finally met its match. D:

I've been Obliviowned.

Lucid, I believe there are some tweaks that might help your FX, but I am not sure. If Oldblivion doesn't help I am not sure if the problem is shaders. Try cleaning up your computer/defragmenting and putting in new drivers. After a good cleaning see if anything is different ,then if not .I am not sure what to tell you. Have you tried the official forums?

Ok then, give this a try. ;)
After dling and applying the tweaked .ini and...
:O It works now! :D

I just got outside of the dungeon...

But uh... the water's purple and the plants are paper o.o
Also, when I was in the dungeon, torches/spells/etc. didn't create / emite any light
at all. :| I'm sure my system can handle some illumination... any commands I could type ingame? or a certain line in the .ini to turn on lighting?
I still can't change my video settings ingame for some reason...

For the water download this: http://games.build-a.com/oblivion/watertexture.zip put it in oblivion/data/Textures/water folder, you wont have a textures or water folder but you'll have to make them. Then go in to the .ini and change bUseWaterShaders=1 to bUseWaterShaders=0. It should work.
For the plants, are they like blocky or something?

Plants just look like poorly made 2D sprites...

The water patch worked btw :D

Here's what the bushes and trees look like...

Gah, nevermind all of the screenshots are really tiny... and really dark.

But, here they are anyways x.x

As for lighting...

Tha hell, I have a slightly better setup than that, and yours looks so much better than mine.

Oh, I think thats because tree distance is turned all the way down in your video options, try turning it up a bit

I can't change anything in video options D:...

When I click return, the game crashes.
