The fights look 10x better than Oblivion, so combat wise atleast it looks like an Oblivion beater.

Combat looks really nice from what i've seen. Source ftw! These guys also made Arx Fatalis which was pretty damn good.

it's linear, doesnt have rpg elements and wont have anywhere near the same depth as Oblivion ...not that that's a bad thing.
This game is all action. More like Rune than Oblivion.
The combat looks really good and the mp sounds interesting especially co-op

As said on ign. Source aint exactly the best choice for RPGs *cough bloodlines cough*

I think it is supposed to have rpg elements from the Q&A's I have read. Definately won't be the focus of the game though.

Better rate this one M for boobies hidden deep in some random art archive. The violence isn't that bad judging by the screenshot. :p

ya the article says it has a skill tree similiar to diablo 2 but it's not an rpg

Q : What about the RPG elements in the game?

RC : Dark Messiah features some of the classic RPG elements such as collecting items and building up your character. As you progress, you pick skills to coincide with your chosen play style (whatever it is) and be assured that the quest is going to support whatever style of play you choose.

RWG : For instance if you decide to play as an assassin, you will have access to skills that will improve your ability to stalk your enemies while remaining undetected, such as silent walk, backstab, advanced disarm…

So it definately has rpg elements. They just take a back seat to the action.

I am looking forward most to the multiplayer. Supposedly you gain experience and get access to new equipment across maps in some kind of campaign mode.

It may have been too early in source's life-cycle to make bloodlines on it, but as source stands now it is the perfect engine for games like bloodlines.

this looks wicked..a oblivion beater?

Well, I doubt it would have nearly the same amount of mods released. But yeah, DM definitely looks interesting.

Been looking forward to this. I find no one ever does combat right in FPS games. I hope this turns out to be like HL2 with swords/magic similiar to Diablo in first person (without all the repetitiveness).

Looking good. Not an Oblivion beater in terms of Exploration sure (Bethsoft still rule that area in my books), but the weapon systems seem to be better in place than Oblivion's combat, which is somewhat arcadey-based sometimes.

that's not dismemberment ..this is dismemberment

whatever shortcomings you might find that bloodlines had, it had absolutely nothing to do with the capabilities of the source engine.

lol

But, for the record there were no boobies hidden in Oblivion, the mesh files and texture files were altered.

Claims Bethesda

In terms of combat, definately will beat oblivion, but in terms of rpg? NEVER!

Sorry old news i bring you :(
Fool me once(Your post in the other thread), shame on me!
Fool me twice(Your post in this thread), shame on you!

In its defense, you can't really compare this to Oblivion. This is an action-RPG and as such, will be quite different from the more traditional wide-open quest/exploration RPGs that we know.

Hahaha! I know, but this was better for the joke. Still don't know why people had to get all up in arms about it. An outsider changed the material that Bethesda had--where's the fault??? Hacking and slashing and poisoning and looting, but no M rating for that. Now a thrid party does his own alterations and there's a big stink! And I think to myself, what a horrible world!!!
