Pre-Load on the 5th.. ha.. don't make me laugh.

Any chance on God's green Earth that CSS will see a preload on the 5th IYO?

Who here thinks CS:S will actually be preloading on the 5th, with an intended activation date for the 10th?

I personally don't and to be honest I'm not suprised Valve's missed another date, but I'm ****ed off.

Cafe's will be getting at least one week of exclusivity (possibly 2) according to Cliffe, so if we see it before the end of the month I'll be shocked tbh.

Doom 3 has taken a lot of heat off Valve (just take a look at the gaming forum with every thread being about Doom 3 to see that), but Doom doesn't really interest me, and I want my CSS update!!

I really, really hope so. But I voted for No. Sorry VALVe, I love you guys, but you guys are almost as bad on estimating time as I am.

Voted no as well - It just doesn't seem realistic as no cyber cafes have it yet and it was mentioned that the CZ owners would get it a week maybe two after. Unless of course we all pre-load on the 5th. We'll see...

I swear Valve has so much in common with members of my family. I mean I love them to bits, but they just piss me off something chronic sometimes.

Out of all the Dev teams Valve are my personal favourite, and when they give us dates and then don't stick to them I get really pissed off. Funny thing is they could give us a date tomorrow and in my heart I know they wouldn't make it, but I'd still get excited.

Ah well.

I voted no, and I will continiue doing that until Valve can prove once and for all that we can trust them on SOMETHING.

But at the end of the day - they don't even have to give us a beta if they don't want - So I am grateful in more ways that one - After all, they don't even have to make HL2

Well frankly when they say they're going to give us something and then don't to be suprised we're pissed of about it would be rather silly. To be honest I wish Valve had stayed in the dark till both HL2 & CSS were finished because all this waiting is painful.

I've currently spent more time waiting for Half Life 2 than it'll take to play the game a hundred times over and I'm sick of waiting.

Oh, and if they release HL2 on September 30th :flame:

I can't see it happening either, it doesn't seem viable considering cliffes statement in the gamespot vid. Of course it depends when the vid was filmed- if it was a month ago(haha yeah right), then maybe the date will hold, but no, another delay I fear.

Sooner or later tho they've gotta make a date, atleast once or twice, unless they finally just release without notifying anyone around december!!

sure ;) I have "total" faith in VALVe... pessimistic bastards :)

i think you misundersand i dont think it will preload to everyone on the 5th. it will most likely start preloading for cybercafe owners from the 5th till maybe the 8th on a slower stream so as not to bog down the network with traffic. then on the 10th it will be activated. for us home users to be able to preload it there will have to be a new steam update first so that the ati coupon holders (me) can input our keys and get the game too. which will prolly happen from the 8th till the 10th. thats my speculation.

How about this. Let's wait till the 5th, and see. I'm pretty sure it will.

I think it will be out on the 5th :) , and if it doesnt its not the end of the world :p

Do you care if it preloads on the 5th as long as it activates on the 10th?

I wouldn't.

I don't think I have EVER waited this long for a game. It's like watching a thousand gallons of paint dry... as you will all know its tedious and frankly, painful, boring and a waste of time... Valve, if your gonna do it... then just ****ing do it eh! and quit stringing us along with videos, a few screenshots and a little repeated old news. Either that or I will have my money back please.

I voted YES as I wish Valve and the CS:S dev team the best of luck and to at least show them my support for a 05/08/04 release date.

If we carry on much longer, I'll be blind by the time I get HL2 and CS:S because of staring at my monitor looking at all the info sites 8(

I'm fairly confident it won't preload on the 5th for CZ owners. Cyber Cafés, probably. CZ users a few days after..

Actually, Valve said that Cybercafes will get at least a weekend with CS: Source to themselves. Now, it could start preloading on the 5th and they'll still get a weekend to play it.

But yeah, I think the CS:S preload date depended on the "Half-Life 2 is bug free" date. Which makes sense. So I'm going to bet it won't start preloading on the 5th but it may not be that long afterwards.

dammit, i hope so. if they miss this date im pretty sure most people will lose what little faith they had in valve... but lets not be so negative! CS:S beta is coming :D

I think VALVe should get out of the date-setting business they're like what 0-16?,0-25? 0-? I'm sorry but they just don't have the knack for prognosticating.

Let me ask this question: Why _wouldn't_ it preload on the 5th?

Valve has been taking CS:S around to many different venues and having it extensively played. They obviously thought it was prepared enough to go to the Korea event and G4. Valve also think that Steam is capable of handling high bandwith demands (see CS:CZ release). So why not?

Even if it is not 100% ready, they could preload the maps, sounds, basic media like that starting on the 5th and then put on thing they need a bit more time for later.

*sob* I've been looking forward to tommorow for weeks now. And then I see this thread ;( I'll vote No too now...

I still believe it will preload. I mean, yesterday the steam platform was updated with HL2 icons and CS:S icons

I dont see HL2 or CS:S icons :(

But since there was a hefty update to the platform, i can only assume there is a chance for the preload come on the 5th.

the hl2 icon is the same one from the leaked version (which i dont condone), i think it looks very good. but i dont really like the cs:s icon.

however its the game that really matters isnt it, so well have to wait and see, at the moment a might be more looking forward to cs:s than hl2 :O

Since the cafes have not begun preloading the beta.A VALVe employee reconfirms the cafes will get it first.the information coming soon will probably include a new "release date",the Aug 5th preload/Aug 10th playable dates are now obviously toast.

i know. just stfu valve! people would be much happier if you DIDN'T predict dates and miss em by months, just keep your incorrect dates to yourself please.
for example, if your parents said they were going to buy you a new computer in a week, a week passes and they say they decided not to buy you a computer. if they hadn't said anything in the first place, you would not be upset but since they DID promise a new computer and ended up not getting you one, you would be pissed at them

hello there. greetings from the past. since today is the 4th of august you are obviously from the ****in future since somehow you know that the cs:s hasnt preloaded yet and the aug5th date is "toast" as you put it.

:) past precedence says 5th/10th is toast."Cafes in the Valve Cafe Program will get it first".Why would he say "first" if he really meant "at the same time" as CZ/HL2 coupon holders

I want to check it out as much as anyone.

VALVe should just let the information get reported when it happens.I don't see anything beneficial about putting dates out and then missing them.

5th. CZ / Cybercafe Owner start preloading
7th. Cybercafe Owner are able to play (Valve said the Cybercafe people have one exclusive weekend)
10th. CZ / HL2 Coupon owner are able to play CS:S

What about that?
