Pre-order release dates are freaking me out!

I've been looking at various sites that offer a pre-order for HL2, and the release dates are all in November. Strange, huh? Every pre-order site I've been to says if you pre-order, it gets shipped in November. Granted... the days of shipping in November can vary... but they're all in freaking November. Isn't Thanksgiving in November?

I was snooping around on Amazon.com last night and noticed they set HL2 for a December 1st release. However they've got a Strategy guide for it coming out Octobet 7th??????
