Here.

Expensive but the OEM version are cheap but is it worth it going for the OEM instead of retail?

In before "Banned for advertising"

I thought that was only for sites linked to you. So far I haven't seen any other places that allow you to order Vista for the UK yet. I will remove the link if need be.

I'm pretty sure you can only buy the OEM version with a prebuilt system(?) :|

This might actually be the first version of Windows i actually buy retail (as opposed to getting OEM versions with systems).

btw does anyone know if it'll be possible to install the same copy of Vista on more than one home PC??

CHEAP. ?140, yikes. Surprising.

Safe to go with 32bit? Will it still emulate stuff if I went 64 like XP64 does?

what are you talking about???
going to 32bit will run 32bit software only and will not emulate anything.
64bit will be more well done then it was with xp.

Saw this today and it is very tempting to get an OEM version. It's my birthday next week too so I may be able to get it for my birthday.

OEM versions only let you register online a few times and only let you have a few hardware upgrades (supposedly). While Retails gives you unlimited online registrations and hardware upgrades in one PC.

Though I've used a OEM version of XP and have formatted and re-registered many times, after upgrades also. But I'm not sure if it'd be the same with Vista.

@giant, I read that if you had XP64 that if you ran 32bit software it would emulate the 32bit OS to run them, resulting in a lot of software unusuable. That's what I read anyway. :|

What's release date?

The trouble, at least in my eyes, is that ?100~ is a lot to ask for an OS you can only use on one system. I don't mean running multiple systems at once, but you are only allowed "1 major hardware change" before you have to purchase a new copy.

Frankly, I would happily pay the asking price if it meant I could install it on any new machine I build, even if I have to hook up my old machine and deactivate it online first.

But whatever, I shall just ask my uncle beattie to buy me a copy

If you ring them up they give you a new code for free. I think the idea is to keep it on 1 machine, not hardware changes.

Last I checked, MS were saying that you were allowed 1 major hardware change before you had to buy a new copy, this is news to me.

Still, its ****ed up that you have to phone them in this day and age. They need to come up with a system that works seamlessly online, or go **** themselves.

I thought that MS had come out since and stated that they had revoked the need to buy a new copy if you make more than 1 hardware change. I'm fairly sure they made a statement explaining that you would now be allowed any hardware changes, as they realised it may cause them to lose a proportion of the large market that is computer and hardware enthusiasts..

The premium edition is cheaper than I was expecting. Why can't they have a system like Steam, or have a large database of their customers, if you want to reinstall a copy of Windows, you provide a secret answer, that only you and MS know.

Seriously its not that damned hard

I blame the EU
