BIOWARE is working with SEGA to create a SONIC THE HEDGEHOG RPG for the NINTENDO DS platform.


Let that sink in.

I love every game Bioware has ever made, and I have very high expectations for Mass Effect. But this? Sonic the Hedgehog has become a complete joke in the video game world, and is filled with useless characters and disfunctional gameplay. Most of whats wrong with Sonic has been because of it's story, and they're making an RPG? That's just going to mean more horrible story.

Discuss, because I don't know what to think.

This could be one of the greatest games ever or it could be one of the worse EVER.

I still can't comprehend that and I've been looking at it for over a minute.
 
I say YUCK, latest Sega game on the next-gen consoles for example sucked ass, I wont get my hopes up.
 
But this is being developed by Bioware, not Sonic Team. :)
 
Interesting to say the least. Ill be looking forward to this.
 
Hahaha! I knew Bioware was working on a DS title but I was really hoping it was Baldur's Gate (the original not the slasher). Oh well. I am still extremely positive about this. Bioware is a seriously great developer and they will probably make this the most kick-ass Sonic game ever!!

It pretty much means they will make a good rpg, but fans of traditional Sonic games may not likee. Too bad for them I say!! :bounce:

Bioware are a good developer, I doubt the end result will be THAT bad. :p
 
Say what you will about Sonic. This game is garbage.

However, Sonic Team (Phantasy Star Online, etc.) kicks so much ass. They make some of the best Real-time RPG's ever made IMHO. And Bioware; do I even need to say what Bioware is capable of? This is going to be really good. To bad it will be bite sized game for a portable system. However, if the game is good, it could set the mark for sequels on next gen systems.

Only thing that gets me - this might be too little for me. Possibly a simple RPG (Example, Mario RPG)


I don't think anyone would dispute that Sonic is a huge IP for SEGA, and that the Sonic games need to change something major if they want to stay important. I have hated platform games since the Sega Saturn game system.

There have been other games that started out as one type of game and changed into something completely different; can't think of any right now, but trust me.
 
I think the sheer weirdness/stupidity of this may cause the universe to implode.
 
It's Sonic, therefore I will not buy it regardless of the developer.

My poor gamer brain is just not piecing this together D:

Edit - Meh. The fact that it's - a) A Sonic game, and b) For an unfamiliar platform suggests Bioware will have one of their "other" teams working on this. Also considering the fact they've already got people working on Mass Effect, Dragon Age and their unnamed MMO already, it probably won't be their A team.

Still, it's a Bioware game, so even if it's a flop, it'll damn well be a quality flop!
 
With each all-caps word it got better and better until "NINTENDO DS" killed it
 
I'll take a stroll to the Bioware headquarters. (I live a few Kilometers away). I'll ask them what have they done with themselves??

I believe that if anybody is working on KOTOR 3, it's Obsidian. They were taking suggestions from fans regarding what they'd like to see in it, IIRC. No doubt somebody is working on it.

KOTOR 2 left a bad taste in my mouth, but that was primarily due to rushed development, so I trust them.
 
I'm beginning to wonder if that frontal lobe blowjob is ever gonna happen...

KotOR 2 was make by Obsidian, but I put the blame for the unfinished ending on bullying by Lucas Arts to get the game finished.
From what I hear though Lucas Arts had turned over a new leaf so hopefully the same thing won't happen with KotOR 3.

I would buy a Deamcast 2.

SEGA made games before Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft


I've still got my Dreamcast, keyboard, and my DC games.

Dreamcast emulation is doing pretty well too. :)

The last good Sonic game was Sonic Battle (Though I haven't played Rush, maybe that was good too)
 
Best series from Sega is the Shenmue series hands down anyway, if they announced a Shenmue RPG for the DS I'd pre-order it straight away.
 
I played one of the Shenmue games, so...boring.
