Preparing for Ep2, Portal, etc

What sort of hardware upgrades are any of you doing to get ready for impending release of Episode 2?

I'm going to be getting a new video card for sure. Probably just an 8800GTS 640Mb. Not sure what I'm going to do in terms of monitor. I've got a good 20" widescreen, but I want a bigger one!!! And one with a better contrast ratio. Also considering getting either some good surround headphones or a decent 5.1 or better speaker setup.

Anyone else doing some hardware upgrades as we countdown till release?

...yeah, i'm thinking about a 8Ghz quadro CPU, 2x GF8800 in SLI, at least 3GB Ram in Dual Channel, 1000W 5.1 Surround speakers, 30" LCD monitor or better a videowall

Well my current PC is a laptop so I'd like a whole new desktop PC before Epi 2. Doubt it's going to happen in time though (unless it is delayed again), I know graphics aren't everything but I had to play Epi 1 in low quality so Epi 2 will have to be set even lower and I would like a "complete" Epi 2 experience for my first time.

After i overclocked my hardware (CPU + 20%, GPU + 30%, RAM + 10%) i've gained an increased system performance of around 30%, which is a quite an achievement (i can squeeze out more, but i prefer stability). I had to buy new cooling and PSU of corse...I don't think i'll have any problems with EP2.

Don't worry, I know the feeling. I played Ep1 all on low and it was just a mess. I vowed to get a new PC in time for Ep2. Thank goodness for the delays!

I'll buy a new computer for sure with my parent's help, i started working, and i also have some money in the bank, so when september comes (and my birthday with it) I buy a new computer (hopefully ) I think i won't install Vista on it for a while, too... (and ofc i'll replay hl2 and ep1 with max settings )
