Press article quotes Gabe, says Hl2 coming this holdiay season?

This looked like a fun little article that mentions Valve and the expectation for the sequel. (but mentions GameFAQs instead of HL2.net, bullcrud!)

But the article, which has a direct quote from Gabe, also says repeatedly that the game is coming "this holiday season." Don't know if they talked to Gabe about this specifically, but the fact that they are mainstream media and they talked to Gabe directly about the game, could they have gotten the impression that the game isn't coming until the holidays?

A little disturbing.

Yeah, it doesn't quote Gabe directly, but then, wouldn't they have asked him when it was coming when they got the quote? If they had asked him, and he was telling them the same things he tells us, he would have said summer, not holidays.

They must have misquoted him or must be quoting him from old statements (like way old ie 2003.) They've been pretty consistent with the "summer" thing lately.

Isn't 'holiday season' interpretable as summer (what's summer called then vacation season)? Or is that just my lack of understanding for the american language?

Holiday season in the US is traditionally meant to be around christmas time, which can be anywhere from october to december.

Nobody knows.. Even if Gabe says Summer for sure it would be hard to belive... Maybe if he gave a specific date @ E3 and showed some very long and well produced movies of new maps then I would belive him kinda, also a demo or benchmark would help convincing me. (Yeah I know they probably wont release a demo b4 the game itself is released.) :angry:

the end of the article has a little chart which lists HL2 as coming out around fall / winter, so i guess the article didn't confuse "holidays" with "summer". Still, if gabe says summer, it's summer for now! (The alternative is just not worth talking about!!)
