well. . i'm not sure if this has been done before or not, but there's this little thing called Next Gen Graphics, so i figure this is a good Necromancy at worst. .. .

and pretty doesnt have to be ponies and sunshine and Rainbows. . .

So if (for example) Soul Reaver is just GORGEOUS in your oppinion feel free to list.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

And I'm the beholder.

Alice. It's pretty old by today's standards, but I still think of it when I think of a 'pretty' game. Halo and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. had some Kodak moments too.

Oblivion is too shiny. eh, matter of opinion, though.

I'd say for released games it'd be Dead Rising. That game does not get enough compliments over it's graphics. They are good. Again, though, it's a matter of opinion. My opinion.

Oblivion had great graphics but the HDR lighting was just over the top, just looking a mere sheep would skint my view.

I would say, games that took my breath away when first looking at its graphics would be Half-Life 2, Gears of War and Company of Heroes (amazing graphics for an RTS).

Gears of War is amazing, more gritty the pretty though.

Far Cry has some amazing scenes.

Okami
Prince of Persia SoT & WW
Psyhonauts
Outcast
Resident Evil 4
God of War 1 & 2
Jak & Daxter
Abe's Oddyesse & Exodus
Final Fantasy 12
Shadow of the Colossus
World of Warcraft

Now that I think about it, I'm more of a graphicswhore then I always thought.

ANYTHING, that comes out of the unreal engine is eye candy..

Wow...two for Wind Waker. I agree...the game is gorgeous.

Resident Evil 4 is terrific, too. Bioshock also looks to be great.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault was blisteringly good-looking when it came out, me thinks D:

Good call, Spearhead especially. Not to mention Call of Duty.

Oh, and even more so, Quake 3 Arena. Man I thought that game was pretty beyond belief!

The first Unreal was just jaw-dropping. I remember getting it right after I got my own PC and I almost shit my pants (I was playing Quake 2 LAN and MP heavily back then and though nothing can look better).

Half-Life 2 was the first game I ever was shown a picture of in game buildings, with real life buildings...and got it wrong when asked "Which one is real?"

So that gets my vote.

Heh heh heh...

Agreed Unreal was, at it's time, stunning.
Halflife 2's character textures and attention to lighting always make me go ooh.
And most of the locations in Riven are still some of the best CG renders i've seen, even after 10 years.

Half Life 2's graphics STILL make me impressed.
Gears of War looks really good.
Oblivion was... makes me want to reinstall.
EQ2 looks amazing for a MMO.
Company of Heroes has fantastic visuals. Maybe not when you're zoomed in, but the combination of buildings blowing up after a couple fireball-bombs and the body parts of the inhabitants... orgasmic.

Did they ever do a higher-res version of Riven? Not only is it difficult to get it to run properly, now, but the images are tiny. :|

'Pretty' games. Hmm...

WoW in terms of composition.
Oblivion - I think I prefer it without the HDR.
HL2 which, despite a few aspects being a bit behind the times, looked very good without making everything super shiny.
Gears of War; Don't own it, but I've played it and it does look good.
The Myst franchise in general - even those not made by Cyan.

Damn. It's hard to really narrow it down. Time really does change things. I remembered the original MoH looking quite good, and I was rather surprised when I played it again and it looked as bad as it did.

There were a few parts of Gears that were cool looking.

Id vote for Shadow of the Colossus too, even though i have never played it

Okami, designed for a 7 years old hardware, it's prettier than 99% of everything else out there. Oh yeah, Okami, ohhh yeah...
