Well, for months, Prey has been full price everytime I've seen it. Last weekend, I saw it for $14.99 at the store, so I got it. I'm about to install it now.

Since I've got a ton of experience at doing mods for the Doom3 engine, I'll surely make some mods for it.

I usually mod whatever annoys me. In this game, I've only played the demo, and the sounds of the guns left a lot to be desired, so I'll change those at least.

Anyway, I think the visual trips of the disorienting cieling/floor/portal stuff is worth the price of admission. If you didn't want to buy this game, the low price might make it worth it.

IMO, the demo was decent/OK/not bad/kind of freaky

When I played the demo - long ago, I was using a slower PC with a crappy graphics card. With my new system, I'll be able to play it in all maximum settings, and see the game how it was meant to be seen.

This should be pretty cool. Cya

I got bored of that game SOOOO fast. Good thing I didnt pay for it :p

The gravity thing is a cool gimmick, but thats all it is. Everything else about the game was very generic.

Already bought it. So far, very original. Walkways are awesome and gravity flippers add to the fun.

I also love the Indian culture, it always raises my interest. I've got some Hopi in me somewhere down the tree.

Prey gameplay timeline:

Starts of really cool, gets dull for the meat of the game, then really awesome during the last hour.

Holy shit, these are the best graphics and visuals I've ever ****ing seen. This is ****ing killer. This is 10 times better looking than I expected when I bought the game.

There are some really sweet graphic effects everywhere. Most of the effects, even shadows couldn't even be done on my old card, so I didn't even know they would be there. Anyway, this ****ing game runs perfect in HD too.

The fighting with the wrench needed some kind of effect that slows the game upon impact just for a split-second. Needed some polish, as it is, it's not fun at all. Other than that, this game is ace so far. I'm not too far, 2nd or 3rd area.

I just noticed something. Opinions are interesting. They are stated like facts, but they cannot be proven or disproven. Hmmm.. nevermind that.

There is nothing generic about this game, it's pretty much the opposite IMO.

I bet if you really wanted to play the game in the first place, you would have paid for it. Since you didn't really want the game unless it was free, you can't really expect it to be your kind of game.

The demo was pretty fun, I can see how it'd get a little repetitive though.

I might pick it up when I get my next pay check.

Well it's a good price for Prey.Though it has a better AI than Doom3 it is a lot shorter as well and it gets a little repeditve shortly into the game.I still think it is better than above average game.I like it alot.

I was disappointed in it. It feels like the game could have been so much more. Still worth a purchase and a play.
And is definitely coolest game to mod for, the portals and gravity play allow for some incredible wicked tricks and situations.

ANGSTY INDIAN, ATTACK!

Yeah, that game was ass.

I believe Bugs is the perfect description of Bloodlines.

Damnit, best voice acting ever and they screw up the game with the bugs so badly.

Damn sarcophigus.

Anyway, this is marginally related to Prey, so I'll just say I've never played Prey and don't plan to either.

You ever play the game sanitarium. You should if you haven't.
I really really mean that.

I have been playing through Prey, its actually an alright game. They put a lot of effort into keeping the graphics polished and I like the way you use portals and gravity. It would be nice to see some slightly more advanced puzzels. But its nice not having to struggle to think about them. Everything works together and the game keeps you directed on the right path.

My only problem would be the enemies. It does have its unique enemy moments but a lot of the NPC's are very generic and don't do much. The graivity allows for upsidedown fighting and such which works fairly well but it doesn't add much more depth to the already lacking enemies.

Prey brings a lot of new things to the table which I like Its still a generic first person shooter but I think it tryed a lot more than most other games do.

Definatly worth the cheap price.

If it wasn't for the crappy storyline, the dumb characters, the ass-doors and the forced on indian-angle, the game would be great. I liked the feel of the game really early on with the exploration and the organic world of the spaceship but it soon turned to repetative and over-done crap.

I thought Prey was one of the best FPS shooters to come out for a long time. It was very Duke 3dish. At any rate it's a thousand times more polished than Quake 4. That is a bad game. If anyone is slightly interested in this game, Ignore the pirates in this thread who obviously played half the game for free, ditched it, and went straight back to HL2 for the 30th time.

Yeah, I think the demo was stripped down or based on a beta or something. The game is lots better than the demo but I can't place what it is - besides including the rest of the game. I did notice the bullet impact effects were fixed. In the demo they were comically hand drawn orange glowing things and now they look realistic.

This game runs at like 80fps or something. It's nice for a change. Too bad all my games don't run this well in maximum settings. :E

You're right. We can't have opinions of our own. Sorry.

And because we did not like the game we are obviously pirates. Curse us.

On a sidenote I enjoyed quake 4 alot more than Prey. In fact I played quake all the way through twice. I think it was a nice little game, not brilliant but pretty good.

I find more than a few things wrong with this post :|

Did I ever say that?

At any rate I enjoyed Prey way more than Half-life 2, it looks a hell of a lot better too. Half-life 2 AI was a joke.

Let's see.

Maybe you didn't say the exact words. But the way you said these words...

For ****s sake, for the second time have you played Sanitarium.
It's fracking great and I'm sure you will love it, it's one of the best adventure games ever.

I haven't played Prey...I'm sure it's better than Quake 4 though (which was very crap).

If a game is bad 50% of the way through, enough that someone would stop playing it, it's a shitty game

It's better than Q4 and Doom3 put together times 2. It's the only game where the Doom engine actually looks good IMHO. However the weapons in this game do feel kind of weak but it's highly mod-able, so you can tweak it to your liking.

:O Well, that's a first. I've never heard of anyone feeling that way...but, to each his own. The feeling I got playing Prey...this game is like 6 years too late...probably get the same feeling when I play DNF..only...like...10 years or something too late.

IMO, Half-Life 2 was a masterpeice. Doom 3 was above average. Prey and Quake 4 were status quo, if that. I couldn't make it through either Quake 4 or Prey. Played through Doom 3 and HL2 multiple times.

Check out the community packs, they fix virtually everything. The community is also busy on porting the entire game over as a mod for HL2, they already got the maps and the majority of the architecture done, just the models are being a bitch.
