Hello I am getting a wireframe or grid like lines on the peoples faces. Everything else seems to be ok. Any ideas what the problem may be. I have the video settings on High or medium, Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering are off.

System specs:
1.6 amd
512 Ram
Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB
Sound blaster Live 5.1
160 Gig HD

1.6 ghz processor? wow thats a draw back, but i think what you mean about the faces, i think, for me, the faces have a very high color difference for each texture on their face, so it looks like blocks, mm....

Some screenies :borg:

Wow. That is so strange that its just on their heads and nowhere else.

Thats pretty messed up, yo. Maybe your HL2 is corrupt? Could nuke it and download it / install it again.

Try to uninstall your old card drivers and then install the new ones. And yes it does make a difference if you uninstall first.

That is impressive. I've never seen that before. I would suggest uninstalling and reinstallinng with new drivers and such

I would say rendering errors but, it's only on faces.

It looks like some really low polly face models if you look at it really closely. You can see where, in barney's dimples,it starts to get lighter as it goes into his face. Only really low quality shading. Also, on alyxes head, her nose is flat. That made me think maybe a redering error but only on the faces. hmm. ASUS! WHERE ARE YOU!?!?!

looks like rendering errors on the normal maps for the faces.

update video drivers, and if that doesn't fix it, validate your .gcfs.

Shame you cant figure that error out, bottle it and use it as a handy realtime wood procedural. =]

I had that error too, but it's not just faces, if you for example look at the seats in the cabin at the start of the game you see them too. My problems dissapeared after a reboot though.

Same here, it only happens on character faces (as opposed to the generic npc's) and on some objects such as the seats in the train you arrive on. An update in graphics drivers sorted me out.

If you're using an ATi card I recommend the Omega drivers, found here. You should also do a search for the driver cleaner in the DH Forums (linked through the Omega site) and run that prior to installing the new ones.

Merry Christmas.

little question, do omega drivers require service pack 2?

No.

Omega drivers are merely official drivers that have been tweaked for better performance and usually better graphics too.

Driiiivvvverrrrrr Prroooobllleeemmmssss!

Driver problems.

Whatever you do, don't delete your cache files. Just validate as it describes here instead. Same effect for no bandwidth and a fraction of the time.

I had the same prob with 9600PRO 256 the day HL2 came out it was just a out of date driver problem!

It happens to specific guns(handgun), faces, and the vvv-high quality textures (bitmaps?)

New drivers fixed it!

thx to all who responded. I installed the omega drivers and that fixed the problem. That chick is much more attractive now! :naughty:
