Problems with my new 9800pro

I finally received my new Radeon 9800pro today and everything seemed to go ok. Took the old piece of crap out, put the 9800 in. Downloaded latest drivers and installed them. Windows moaned about them not being approved by Microsoft or something, but I just clicked ok. Got an average 5400 marks in 3DMARK03 and tried the Far Cry demo that I had been waiting to try for ages. However every time the level was loading about 10% in it would either completely freeze the computer or just restart! Tried UT04 and it worked perfectly. Do you have any idea what it could be? I just hope this won't happen with HL2...
Thanks in advance

uninstall the component from your computer by uninstalling the drivers. turn the computer off and take your radeon out. boot the computer up make sure ALL drivers are uninstalled. turn the computer off and put the radeon in it, then try. you shouldent just install over drivers.

Did you uninstall that "old piece of crap" first? Drivers and all.
I assume you have DX9b installed.
I would suggest reinstalling the FarCry demo and test it out in a few other games as well.
This will likely not happen with HL2...lol

I havn't seen anyone else having issues so like always, this is an isolated issue which could be a few things that aren't set right. Just try to work it out on your PC and update on any progress, bud.

Yes I did, sorry for not putting that in. They both use the same drivers as the "piece of crap" was a 9200se.

You got further than I did. I just got my Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB yesterday. Windows wouldn't load with it in despite me having adequate power supply and updated AGP drivers. Now I'm back on the Geforce 2 Ultra and the Radeon is sitting on my desk.

Haven't visited the FC forums, have you? Hundreds of people have the very same issue with the game freezing at load, while all other games work.

Nope, I havn't visited the FC forums as my installation of FarCry works perfectly.
