Problems with offline mode

Hiya,

I have a dial up connection and cannot play either online or offline. Anyone that help...?

1) Has it ever worked either online or offline?
2) Do you get any error messages?
3) There must be something indicating to you it isn't working so can you be more specific?
4) Is there a specific game you're not able to play online/offline?

Hiya Chris,

Installed the game ok, was online (albeit dial up) throughout.

I restarted computer and steam tried to connect to internet, obviously could'nt till I dialled up.

It would'nt then give me the option online or offline to play, just keeps saying "game not ready to play in offline mode yet"

1. Worked once
2. No error message
3.Cant be more specific thats all I can say

There have been quite a few updates released for Half-Life 2 and the Source engine.

Close Steam.
Dial up to the internet.
Open Steam.
Click on "Play Games".
Right click on "Half-Life 2"
Select "Properties"

Check the status, amount acquired, offline mode and see what it says underneath "Automatic updates" and let me know what's there
