Processes

A lot of people are saying they have 25-30 processes, I have 40-45. How do I go about removing them safely and knowing which not to remove?

I have hijackthis but can't really see anything worth removing.

it depends on the user. i for one hate stuff loading when i first turn on my pc. i just keep average stuff that i need. To answer your question, go to run and type in 'msconfig' then go to the start up tab which you will see all of your programs that automatically run when you boot up.

i had processes from another user account, thats why I had so many

I had around 23-25 at start up when using XP.

With vista i'm into the 40s and they're almost all system processes :|

27 processes right now. I always ctrl-alt-del any graphics card control panel ones etc if I'm not using them. It usually loads with about 32+ processes.

*EDIT* Aha, Security Task Manager. Good program I think.
