none seem to like us on this forum...i guess the first impression that people get...is "bah another mod, which will never make it"...but it is our fault..we haven't provided them with any information about the mod...nor any media to get them intersted...and i am not even going to mention the site status...

I was gonna post something, but this sums it up pretty nicely. Specifically "we haven't provided them with any information about the mod...nor any media to get them intersted..."

Its not that we don't like the new ideas on the forum, it's that the contributors aren't interested in actually helping make them. What's the point of forming a mod team for your idea when all you're going to do is "management", "ideas" or "concept art"? Don't whine, just pick up a book and learn to code.

Well actaully i am a texture artist/military adviser

Andy is a level designer...

and we used to have two modelers but one has disappeared the other one didn't quite meet our requierments...

do you get paid when you tell people to start coding lol but yeah you can just do one tjing you goto branch out. learn somthin im a concpt artist/PR and im learning how to map cuz with a smaller team your more organized and not all over the place.i've had experience with mods the ones that succees are the ones with dedication like teddy he quit his job so he could work on dystopia.

I get paid to make sure the computers and servers in a software development environment stay up and running, actually :)

And the whole Gold thing...

But yeah Learn to do something Like code and people would want to join. and the whole information/media thing :p

good luck with it though :)

also, when you say 18+, you are missing out on some damn-good modders. I have seen a lot of 15-17 year olds with more skill in modeling and mapping than many of the adults around. They also have more time to dedicate, no family and rarely a job pulling them down. Did i mention they work for food or less?

yes i am quite aware of that, andy change it to 16+ hehe

also how many modelers do you know that are familiar with normal mapping???

not too many, since my mod is still looking for a skinner we havent found much need for normal maps

To quote Bon Jovi:

Don't look up to your movie screens,
Your records or your magazines.
Close your eyes and you will see,
That YOU are all you really need.

Applies to modding, strangely enough. And lots of other awesome topics.

with the use of normal mapping and spectular maps i believe you don't really need a skinner for that...just texture patterns and outlines...no need for folds, shading, details...
