hi there, just wanted to let you know about a very interesting new mod called Project Fighter
its a multiplayer hand to hand fighting game with full character creation and customization.
as you win battles your character stats are saved and you gain points in order to customize your fighter with the following.
Outfits, Moves, cards, or increase stats.
each fighter has these stats
health
speed
defense
power

cards are used as power ups in battle, or can be collected and played in a mini card game called showdown.
on top of all that you can gamble on fights or card games, trade items and spectate battles.

one more bump for good measure,... since we cant seem to get a slot in the phl or hl2.net news.

guess they think were some group of kids playing around :hmph:

at any rate keep an eye on PF in the next week or so we will have a good surprize for you eager players :naughty:

ive already said to much..... back to the editing!

I love it! Looks very professional. Hope this gets in the news. Just PLEASE don't make it look like DBZ. :p

if you can get this to work that would be awesome, but I am not sure how stats would be saved if you do not have a server that can support everything. If you saved them on the individual comps cheating would become easy. Just being picky

no it wont be like dbz.

and yes cheating will be a major issue for us in the long run, server hosts will have the option of saving stats or not. also we plan on shelling out a lot of $ for a secure master server to store the .sts "stats" files. sts files are simular to .cfg files so are small in size.

right now we are working on a solid core to build on. the stats and special moves etc will be added later.

ic. This would be really cool if it works. But i would really try and figure this out now because it would sux if you got far and then realized that you couldn't save stats. IMHO

A master server for stats would be really awsome. I was going to suggest just have the server hosting it save stats, but a master server is better :)

I really like the work, and looks like fun

A group of kids? naa, the concepts alone could make it into hl2.net news. Compared to some of the nasty things other mods have I'm surprised its not in already.

But... The news peeps might be waiting for more solid info to go along with them, and the maps could do with some cleaning up/improving.

Do that and then try again, or email Chris_D and ask him to say why its not made the news section yet, be nice and he'll probably be very helpful.

will a master server work? Can the source servers do that. I know i am being critical, but i want this to work but want to make sure its capable of it.

yeah the maps and gui all that stuff are concepts... the cellshading will be implemented after we tweak it and get the bugs out, but from the video you can see that its doable.

as for stats and client/server stuff, we realy need a network coder to help us solidify the concept, and get us goin in the right direction.

at this point were shooting for a basic playable version that contains,
3rd person locked view, health meter, 2 melee atacks, "punch / kick", jump, and block.

ill continue work on this and get more news worthy content, then we can try again.

thanks for the support, im glad to see that people like the idea.
