Yep it's this weekend, prolly gonna take her to mass then to meet my parents. should be fun. I'm a junior this year, and it's my first prom.

Any advice on what I shouldn't do? Should do? DO NOT SAY DO HER, we've been going for a year and a half

Do people in Europe have prom or is it called something else?

Since you're saying it's your first prom, I'm a bit confused. I thought it's the "party" at the end of high school?
 
It's pretty much a glorified dance at the end of high school, but the juniors are invited. The chics get $500 dresses that come off later. But I would never do that to her. She had to raise her sister's kid when she was 7.

is this what young people do on their prom? I dont remember my prom except in fleeting memories of hugging toilet bowls/falling down stairs


dump the girlfriend, use the money you would have spent on hookers and blow ..guarentee it'll be much more memorable
 
Ahh Prom, the biggest waste of my money. I only spent $150, but I would rather have spend that on sand paper to masturbate with.

It was off and on for a while. I go to a Catholic school, and I'd rather not piss her dad off. He benches 600lb and he scares the living sh*t out of me.

Good luck with that. If hes not too anal you could rent a hotel room with friends and go there after the prom for some good... healthy fun. Thats what everyone at my school seems to do.

Over here in the Netherlands just a tiny proportion of schools do real proms (or balls) with evening clothes 'n' stuff. For the rest it's just parties without formal clothing.

The prom is in 4 and a half weeks over here.

And by prom, I mean after school we go to the abandoned house and party like it's 1699.

prom's in a month here, I have no particularly interest in going but I feel obligated to as it's my senior year, so I will. I'm also considering asking out this absolutely gorgeous girl, but then I have to do all the stuff that goes with that... lol dinner and everything else.

and goddamn i wish i could go drunk, but we're breathalyzed by the police not only on entry and exit to prom, but also every time we leave the bathroom. yeah, i'm serious.

Prom's in two weeks here. I'm not going, though. My band has a gig that night.

I think our class was brethalyzed before entry too, but i wouldnt know since I didnt go. I went to a movie instead. From what I heard, it was the better decision.

heh - no prom for me, but from what I understand, it's an american cultural event where the boys try to get laid after a lousy courtship ritual that involves expensive dresses, alcohol, and dancing.

Nothing like upcoming prom threads to remind me how young everyone here is. Seriously though, if you like dancing, have a lot of friends in school that will be there, and have a nice date lined up, you can make the prom something special.
